A state-of-the-art mobile CCTV system is the latest tool being used to improve residents’ quality of life in Ashington. Six county councillors have joined together via the members small projects scheme to fund a “Sherpa” CCTV system, the first local authority in the country to get one.

Video Wall from eyevis UK protects the people of Calderdale

A video wall created by eyevis UK is helping to protect the people of Calderdale after being installed as part of a £680,000 upgrade of the area’s CCTV system. Eight eyevis 47-inch EYE-LCD-4700-USN-LD-FX displays help staff at Calderdale Council’s CCTV monitoring centre view images from 64 cameras in town centres across the borough, 24/7, 365 days a year.

The draft code of practice for CCTV systems has been issued by the Surveillance Camera Commissioner, Andrew Rennison. We have details on the consultation around the code as well as an interview with the Commissioner who talks candidly about the need to balance security and privacy.
