Securi-Guard Fire and Security: Donation with a difference for childrens’ charity Hannahs

Securi-Guard has made a charity donation with a bit of a difference by gifting leading South West charity Hannahs a table at a top rugby match in the city.

Thanks to the region’s largest independent supplier of fire and security services, Hannahs was able to put the table up for a grabs in a raffle draw.

The lucky winner was Kieran Watts from Dartington, Devon, who enjoyed a VIP day out at the recent match between Plymouth Albion and Leeds with a group of his friends.

Kieran, an Area Sales Manager for international furniture fittings company Hafele UK, said he couldn’t believe his luck when he won the prize in the draw that helped raise more than £4000 for the charity.

“When I heard I had won the prize I thought it was a joke! I never win! It was a great match and a brilliant excuse for me and some friends to enjoy a day out at the rugby, all in the name of a good cause,” said Kieran.

Plymouth-based Securi-Guard has been associated with the rugby club for the past 15 years, providing CCTV and intruder alarms, as well as manned security on match days.

The company is also a keen and regular supporter of a number of charities, making regular donations to those based in Plymouth and elsewhere in Devon and Cornwall.

Scott Boyd, Managing Director – Fire and Security at the firm, said he was keen to make a donation to Hannahs, one of the region’s best known and long established charities, but wanted to give something a bit different.

“I have always been hugely impressed by the tremendous work of Hannahs in supporting children and adults with profound disabilities,” said Scott.

“It is always a great day out watching Plymouth Albion so I thought it would be good for Hannahs to give someone the chance to share in the fun in recognition of the dedication and devotion they have to their work.”

Hannahs Fundraising Manager Emily Severn said: “A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Securi-Guard for supporting the Hannahs Christmas Draw by donating this fantastic prize.

“The draw raised over £4000 for our vital work with children and adults with a range of disabilities. This will make a big difference and is a welcome start to 2014!”

Established more than 200 years ago, Hannahs is one of the oldest and most recognisable charity names, both regionally and nationally – and is dedicated to empowering, advocating and enriching lives of children, young people and adults with a range of disabilities.

It offers a wealth of music, art and outdoor activities from its base in Ivybridge, and its other main centre at Seale-Hayne, near Newton Abbot.
