Next-generation, purpose-built system-on-chip launched by Axis
Axis Communications has announced the 9th generation of its purpose-built system-on-chip (SoC). ARTPEC-9 builds on and refines capabilities and features that characterise previous generations of the company’s in-house-designed SoC: Exceptionally low bitrate, AI-powered analytics, quality imaging and enhanced cybersecurity. Axis will begin including the ARTPEC-9 SoC in select network video products beginning early 2025. In addition, in a first for the network video industry, ARTPEC-9 supports the proven AV1 video encoding standard from the Alliance for Open Media (AOM). Together with Axis Zipstream, AV1 makes it easy to reduce storage cost without sacrificing forensic detail.
