Navtech Radar, the world’s leading manufacturer of Radar based Automatic Incident Detection (AID) solutions for traffic management applications, will launch their new CTS350-X radar at the Intertraffic Show in Amsterdam 25th to 28th March 2014. Specifically designed for volume manufacturing, the CTS350-X is smaller, significantly lighter than previous models and easier to install and commission into service.  The product launch follows quickly on the heels of Navtech announcing a 4 year Framework contract with Trafikverket in Sweden – the country’s national transport administration. Navtech Radar’s AID solution, using CTS350-X, will be deployed for multilane running on strategic road stretches with no hard shoulder, throughout the country.

Dr Stephen Clark, Technical Director of Navtech Radar explains, “Our Radar based AID solution has now been adopted as a de facto standard in many places. As demand for larger volumes of radars has gone up, we have invested heavily in the development of a new radar, which is lighter, smaller and easier to install and commission. The benefit for our customers is that CTS350-X is designed for volume manufacture so it’s more cost effective and provides better value for money. Several of the AID projects our technology is implemented on include multilane running on strategic roads, with no hard shoulder, so fast and accurate detection is a must. ClearWay gives very low numbers of false alarms – typically one per 1 km per 24 hours. It is further widely used in geographical regions where inclement weather – rain, fog, snow, sand and dust is common. There simply are not other technologies which would be effective for this kind of application.”

The first stretch of road which will be equipped with the new CTS350-X ClearWay AID solution is a part of the E4 motorway, running from Stockholm to Arlanda International Airport.
