Videx raises over 12k for Cerebral Palsy Charity in Golf Day

Videx Security, who have been supplying and manufacturing access control systems for 30 years, hosted its annual charity golf day for the 18th year running.

The event, which takes place at Old Fold Manor in Hertfordshire, is held annually to raise awareness and funds for The Bobath Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy. The charity is a specialist treatment centre that aims to improve the quality of life for children so that they are healthy and active, and can participate in everyday life to the best of their ability.

John Rickard, Managing Director at Videx, said:

“The Bobath Centre is very close to my heart personally because my son was born with cerebral palsy and he was treated by the charity throughout his childhood. The Centre does wonderful work to improve the lives of children with cerebral palsy – my son is now able to work full time and he also does voluntary work at the Centre who provided invaluable support to him during his early years.”

For the first three years of the annual golf day, the sponsored charity was the Pennywells Riding School for the Disabled. Since then, Videx has been pleased to support The Bobath Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy and in total have raised over £150,000. This year, the event raised £12,108. Videx employees, business associates and friends attended the event and provided their support for the charity.

Kevin Gillespie, Fundraising Manager at The Bobath Centre, said:

“The support the Videx annual golf day provides is invaluable. The money raised over the years has enabled us to treat hundreds of children and buy toys and equipment to support therapy. We can’t thank John and his staff enough for their commitment to us and the positive impact it has had on so many lives.”

The day began with breakfast, followed by a 10-hole single player competition in the morning. After lunch, an 18-hole competition took place. The day ended with dinner, an award ceremony, a blind auction and raffle.

John added:

“It was a most enjoyable day and we were really pleased with how much we managed to raise, which exceeded our target. The Bobath Centre provides such incredible care and we hope the contribution Videx makes – of which every penny goes to treatment and support provision – makes a difference and enables the charity to reach and help more children with Cerebral Palsy.”
