Stuart Taylor, Managing Director at West Sussex-based specialist cable distributors Securiflex, is embarking on the three-peak challenge to raise money for ‘Action for Charity’.
Securiflex specialises in the distribution of specialist cabling to the Fire and Security markets to include cables such as Intruder, Fire Resistant, CCTV Coaxial, Data, Belden Style, Telecom and Fibre Optics.
Securiflex has pledged to donate with orders placed over certain limits until 31st May generating donations of between £20 and £100 respectively directly to charity.
Taylor will be part of a six-man team from the village of Bramber setting out to scale the three peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in the space of 24 hours on 8th June 2013.
The challenge sees 40 teams in total hiking to the summit of Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands before heading to the Lake District to climb Scafell Pike and then driving to North Wales to face the peak of Snowdon.
The expedition is predicted to involve a total of 12 hours gruelling climbing and 12 hours of travelling between the peaks.
Taylor spoke about the forthcoming challenge, revealing he has been training at least three times a week and spending every spare hour possible either in the gym or hiking on the South Downs.
He said: “I’ve never challenged myself like it before, in fact I have never done anything like this before, so I am looking forward to it. We’ve paid all of the costs ourselves so it doesn’t come out of the charity pot. I hope we can raise anything between £5,000 and £8,000.”
‘Action for Charity’ raises funds for a number of children’s UK-based charities. The money raised will be split between causes to help children with devastative diseases, support disabled children and offer hope to families dealing with premature birth.
