A new blast protection unit has been handed to Bahrain Airport company to improve security of passengers and staff at Bahrain International Airport.
The new state-of-the-art blast container is to be located at the airport’s central screening point in the departure hall. It will be used to contain suspicious baggage and small parcels.
The blast protection unit was handed over by Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Airport Company, Mohamed Yousif Al- Binfalah, at a special ceremony to senior officials from the Airport Police Directorate.
Al- Binfalah said: “In line with our commitment to enhance the aviation security at Bahrain International Airport, we continuously ensure to equip the Airport with leading edge security solutions to implement the globally required measures.”
Bahrain International Airport saw an 8.8 per cent increase in passenger traffic in 2012, with a total of 8,479,884 passengers passing through the airport between January and December last year.
