Ofcom urges business radio users to renew licences

Screen Shot 2013-10-28 at 13.23.29In the first six months of 2013, Ofcom has issued five fixed penalty notices, two formal cautions and initiated two prosecutions for unlawful use of radio spectrum.

Ofcom stated that operating radio systems without a licence can cause harmful interference to legitimate businesses and services. Ofcom monitors the airwaves to identify potential unlicensed use and carries out inspections of businesses to ensure that they are operating within their licence conditions.

When Ofcom offered to resolve a case by way of fixed penalty and the penalty was not paid, the courts ordered the people involved to pay more than £1,000 in costs.

Part of PCE’s commitment to customer satisfaction is to manage our client’s radio licence schedule, this can involve a site survey, measuring power output, signal type and assisting in applications and amendments.

Subsequently PCE clients have a system that is working at peak performance in compliance of legal obligations.

A lot of new clients also find we can offer simple recommendations to improve the site communications and enhance coverage, for a small investment and peace of mind its worth talking to PCE.

Please contact [email protected] or call direct 07515 368 740 for advice on your legal obligations for operating a Two Way Radio System
