Industry leader, Christie®, will be exhibiting a range of exciting new visual display solutions at I/ITSEC 2013, which is running from the 2nd to the 5th of December. They will also be displaying a versatile range of solid-state and lamp-based DLP® technologies in 2D and 3D, including the Christie Matrix StIM™ WQ, the brightest, LED-based WQXGA-resolution simulation projector; a deployable immersive training simulator; the Christie Mirage WQ-L stereoscopic projector, and a demonstration of Christie 4K 3-chip DLP® projection technology at true 120Hz operation.
Flying high with Matrix StIM WQ at 120Hz
Displaying simulation content at 120Hz from FlightSafety International is the Christie Matrix StIM WQ, an integrated, scalable-environment projection system outputting 800 ANSI lumens for the clearest images with no motion artifacts. The Christie Matrix StIM WQ is the brightest LED-based WQXGA simulation projection system in the industry to display separate RGB and Infrared (IR) channels using Christie InfraScene™ technology, producing independent, stimulated Night Vision Goggle (NVG) images for a more realistic NVG training experience.
Christie will demonstrate a three-channel, front-projected display consisting of Christie Matrix StIM WQ projection systems and a VITAL X Image Generator from FlightSafety International. Using unique dual input architecture, each projector will composite two 60Hz inputs to achieve true RGB 120Hz output, dramatically improving image quality. The complete multi-channel system is automatically aligned using Christie AutoCal™.
60Hz and 120Hz – A clear demonstration of the 120Hz update rate capability
Using a Christie Matrix StIM projector and two Christie Matrix StIM WQ projectors, Christie will demonstrate the visual impact between multiple combinations of WUXGA/WQXGA resolution and 60Hz/120Hz update rates. The Christie Matrix StIM and Christie Matrix StIM-WQ projectors will be driven by multiple channels of the Flight Safety Vital-X IG.
Christie Twist™ LT is a purpose built, software-based solution that enables full image warping and advanced edge-blending functions to reside within a customer’s Image Generator (IG). Using the same user Interface as Christie Twist, Christie Twist LT provides fingertip control to seamlessly edge-blend multiple non-linear images. Christie Twist LT fully integrates with Christie AutoCal™ for automatic adjustment of virtually any projected display and optimal viewing configuration.
Also at I/ITSEC, Christie Twist LT will provide the low-cost, high-quality warping and blending solution to a single-operator, entry-level immersive training simulator concept, demonstrating a UAV operator training scenario. The simulator features a wide field of view, high resolution image, curved screen, tactile feedback system and binaural sound for an optimal immersive training experience. Using Christie AutoCal™ to provide fast and easy setup, the lightweight training simulator offers a compact footprint for easy shipping and deployment. It is ideal for use as a UAV operator trainer, part-task trainer, helicopter trainer, and for vehicle training.
“Christie Twist LT enables the expansion of our simulation ecosystem with an entry-level solution featuring low acquisition and sustainment costs for more cost-sensitive simulation applications,” said Zoran Veselic, vice president of Visual Environments at Christie.
Visual Powerhouse: Christie 4K DLP at 120Hz demonstration
At I/ITSEC, Christie will showcase the pristine dynamic image quality produced by 120Hz update rates at 4K resolution, demonstrating its value for simulation and training applications. Christie 4K 3-chip DLP technology features the Christie TruLife™ electronics platform, a quantum leap in video processing enabling 4K DLP® projection at 120Hz. Christie TruLife also alleviates blurring and motion artifacts associated with high-speed simulation content and supports video-processing pipeline of up to 1.2 Gigapixels per second. Christie is the first and only provider in the world to deliver 4K 3-chip DLP projection solutions at 120Hz, launching its Christie Mirage 4K projector in June 2013.
Christie Mirage WQ-L makes its North American debut as the only true 120Hz full WQXGA stereoscopic projector display in the world
At FlightSafety Booth #1401, four Christie Mirage WQ-L projectors in portrait mode offer a wide-field of view stereo collimated display content with stunning depth and immersive experiences for flight simulation training. The Mirage series of high-performing 2D/3D projectors welcomed the WQ-L projection system with its sharp images, exceptionally accurate and lifelike colours and reliable LED light engine rated at 60,000-hours (approximately 6.5 years) life cycle. The Christie Mirage WQ-L also includes Christie ArrayLOC™ for synchronised colour and brightness management, which reduces system calibration requirements
Flat-Out Impressive: Christie QuadHD84 flat panel
The Christie QuadHD84 is an 84-inch LCD flat panel display offering quad high definition, 3840 by 2160 resolution, and 1.07 billion colours for rich, pristine and lifelike images, even up close. The quad interface and true 60Hz refresh rate provides flexible connectivity and smooth, real-time motion display of 2D content with 50,000 hours LED illumination life.
Christie Mirage WU7K-M – High performance projection at lower cost
The Christie M Series and Mirage M Series are lower cost projection solutions that perform well in immersive environments. With 3-chip DLP® reliability, a dual P-VIP Osram lamp design and up to 10,000:1 contrast full on/off, the series offers high efficiency and low cost of ownership with crisp, detailed images and colour. The Mirage M Series includes 2D/3D flexibility and 120Hz update rate capability for fast moving images. Both series’ projectors feature embedded Christie Twist™ for image warping and edge-blending and a built-in portrait display capability, from WUXGA resolution, HD to SX+ model options. On display is the Christie Mirage WU7K-M, a 6,300 ANSI lumen, WUXGA-resolution projector.
Christie Brio – Multisite meeting solution
Customers will also have the opportunity to see the latest in meeting collaboration solutions and one of Christie’s newest products. Christie Brio is straight forward and easy to use, no more passing cables and adapters across meeting room tables, installing additional software, rebooting laptops, and apologising for delayed or bungled presentations during critical debriefs. Christie Brio is a new meeting presentation and collaboration tool enabling meeting participants to share up to five audio and video presentations from their own devices. Brio uses wired or wireless connections to automatically share multiple presentations simultaneously on either one or two meeting room screens. Whether participants use Macs or PCs, iPads or Android tablets, or a Smartphone, presentations can be added to a meeting as needed, with their information showing on that meeting room display in seconds. Brio nodes can be network connected to multiple worksites across the country. Brio also takes full advantage of interactive whiteboard technology by turning it into a bi-directional collaboration tool. Any participant in a Brio meeting can use touch-enabled displays to add to or edit whiteboard content, regardless of geographic location.
“Christie is at the forefront of innovation, extending the boundaries of technology by enabling higher update rates with true 120Hz operation at WUXGA, WQXGA and 4K,” added Veselic. “As our diverse display solutions will demonstrate at I/ITSEC, Christie is continuously incorporating new technology to provide our customers with the solutions to meet their unique and demanding simulation and training requirements.”
