Ahead of ASSA ABLOY’s participation at Intersec 2014 SecurityNewsDesk has spoken to Damian Marsh, ASSA ABLOY EMEA Sales Director, to find out what makes Intersec so appealing to industry leaders.
How long has ASSA ABLOY been participating in Intersec and how have you seen the event grow and change over the years?
ASSA ABLOY has participated at Intersec for the past four years and we have seen significant changes both from our own perspective and also that of the show. When we first exhibited at Intersec we had several smaller stands, now we have consolidated all of our traditional ASSA ABLOY brands and worked collaboratively with HID to showcase our complete portfolio from a much larger exhibition area. Similarly with the show itself we have seen consistent growth and attendance year over year to establish this firmly in the ASSA ABLOY calendar as one of our main events.
Why do you think the exhibition has become such a leading light in the industry?
The show establishes a platform for many major corporate companies to exhibit their solutions to a truly global audience. We have seen more and more customers from across the globe attending Intersec due to its central location. In addition it has become the benchmark show for the Middle Eastern Region that we are seeing as a continued emerging market in the security sector and in particular the growth aligned to technology based solutions.
What unique opportunities does Intersec offer ASSA ABLOY?
Intersec offers us a great stage to showcase many of our innovative and pioneering locking and identity solutions that have become a “must have” in today’s society. The Middle East in particular demands the latest technological products to compliment their latest building projects and to provide the people who reside or work in them a safe and secure environment. We see many attendees from all around the region and this is the unique offering that Intersec delivers to us.
What do you think are the top issues, challenges or talking points in the industry at the moment, and what do you think an exhibition like Intersec 2014 will contribute to these?
The Security market in general has seen many changes over recent times with the introduction of IP and Cloud Based services, as well as new construction there is also now a major market for “Upgrades & Refresh” from some of the older installations and we see a shift into using technology to drive efficiencies and provide Software as a Service Models (Saas). From an access control angle we have already seen a distinct rise in the requirement for Online Wireless Locking Technologies such as Aperio and Yale DDL, both provide the Commercial & Domestic/Residential markets with cost effective, non-disruptive and energy efficient solutions that also eradicates the requirement for traditional mechanical keys and all of the management and risk that is associated with them.
What product that you are demonstrating in January are you the most excited about?
As mentioned above the Aperio and Yale DDL solutions will be demonstrated at the show, but in addition we have HID that will be showcasing their SIO and new SE technologies as well as SEOS Digital Credential Management Eco-System as a JV with ASSA ABLOY. Traka will also be present with their new developments in key cabinets and secure locking solutions as well as new technologies from Eff Eff and ABLOY.
What are you most looking forward to at the 2014 event?
The opportunity to network and meet new customers from the Middle Eastern region and to enhance and build on the existing relationships we have as well as developing new ones. We have already seen a distinct increase in interest levels following our pre-show campaigns and also the amout of partners that will also be showcasing our products and solutions. We truly believe that Intersec 2014 will be the biggest and best by far for ASSA ABLOY and HID and we would be happy to welcome everyone to our stand.
