International total facilities management provider OCS has won a contract to provide manned guarding services to The O2, a multi-million pound entertainment venue in south-east London and home to the O2 Arena, the world’s number one music venue by ticket sales.
The contract involves the provision of 24 hour manned guarding services 365 days a year to all the recreational areas outside of The O2.
The guards servicing the contract are trained not only in security but also as hosts for any of the venue ’s seven million visitors a year requiring assistance, including VIPs.
Jane Sheard, UK Managing Director of Facilities Services at OCS, said: “We are delighted to be providing manned guarding services to this iconic venue. Our security staff are proud to be delivering a proactive, customer-focussed service where they pre-empt issues and respond accordingly to the needs of the public visiting the arena. ”
Beginning life as the Millennium Dome, which opened to the public on 1 January 2000 , the venue was renamed The O2 and reopened in June 2007 by new owners AEG Europe. The centrepiece of the multi-million pound development is the 20,000 capacity indoor O2 arena, the most popular music arena in the world by ticket sales and official venue host to both the gymnastic and basketball events for the 2012 Olympics.
