ACT enhances access control offering with ACTpro 4000 two-door controller

Access Control Technology (ACT) Ltd has added the ACTpro 4000 two door controller to its range of access control solutions.  A two-door access controller, it’s designed for high traffic volumes and sites where changes to the card holder database are a daily occurrence.

Networkable up to 4,000 doors, the ACTpro 4000 can manage up to 60,000 users. Changes to larger databases can be made up to ten times faster than previously.

Installation has been simplified by the inclusion of an auto-discovery button in the ACTWin 2.8 software.  When this is pressed all the controllers and door stations on the network are located.  The installer can view the controller configuration and verify network communications via a specially designed controller status web page.

The ACTpro 4000 is expected to be a popular addition to the range.  This scalable card access control system has been designed to facilitate the most demanding requirements for any size of enterprise.

Highly flexible and feature rich, the ACTpro access control solution can currently be found in government sites, major educational facilities, pharmaceutical organisations, hospitals, prisons and retail chain stores.

One educational facility that has benefited from the solution is Sheffield College.  Installers CCS Ltd have used ACTpro door controllers and software on this multi-site campus that is spread over three locations and has a student population of 23,000.

ACT have not only shown their open-system credentials by integrating with third-party readers, but have also customised the ACTWin pro software to function alongside the college’s enrolment system.

They created a synchronisation tool which has facilitated an XML drop by which the college enrolment database populates ACTWin pro without any re-keying or risk of duplication. Even a conservative estimate indicates there has been a saving of 23 man days per year which would otherwise have been spent on data entry.

About the company

Access Control Technology (ACT) Ltd specialises in the design and manufacture of superior quality electronic access control and door entry products.  It meets varying security needs with units that will control a standalone door right through to scalable, enterprise-wide solutions with open format design and interoperability suitable for multi-site buildings with thousands of users.
