A UK company has introduced next generation iris recognition technology that is being used to tighten security around high risk premises such as data centres and financial institutions.

Aditech’s Advanced Multifactor Biometric Iris Reader now provides more accurate, non contact identification by the iris of the eye from 14 inches away. Identification can be done in a matter of seconds. It can also be linked to a surveillance camera to provide greater security when used in secure environments.

Paul Stanborough, Managing Director of Aditech explained the technology has been developed to improve security at a time when more and more sensitive information is being housed off-site in data centres.

“We are witnessing a revolution in the way confidential data is being stored off-site. Many data centres now house sensitive information for more than one company or organisation and so it is vital to have the highest level of security in place to restrict entry,” he said.

“Iris recognition has been proven to be the most accurate, rapid and customer friendly biometric method to use in this context, where it’s important that security is high but it’s also important that authorised staff gain access to the premises as quickly and easily as possible.”

Some organisations are now installing iris recognition access control technology at a number of different points in the building and having different levels of security for their personnel.

Aditech is currently working with financial institutions to install its technology across the world. It is not only being used for access control but for time and attendance.
