Christie allows visitors to jump into the future at InfoComm 2013

Christie-InfoComm2013-021_lowresChristie set out to anticipate the requirements of the future at the recent InfoComm 2013 in Orlando, Florida — making a bold statement which resulted in the company enjoying one of its most successful trade shows ever.

The company’s suite of next generation digital display tools provided the main thrust of a number of technologically-advanced visual solutions for the Pro AV, large venue, architectural, corporate, broadcast, control room and digital signage markets. As a result, Christie was able to demonstrate how businesses, government agencies and academia could maximise their visual assets.

An engaging, interactive Christie Design Studio presence enabled designers and engineers to see how easily their imagination can be turned into reality. The display featured four Christie G Series 1-chip DLP projectors in a projection mapping application featuring a prototype Audi R8. Supported by 37 Christie MicroTiles, the Design Studio was able to create a dynamic and changeable backdrop, while a second projection mapping installation, in the form of a mini-pyramid, aptly demonstrated how a small installation can create a big impact (with the aid of  Christie’s E-series projection).

Christie-InfoComm2013-001_lowresRental and staging customers using Christie 3-chip DLP M Series and J Series projectors in applications such as trade shows, live events and projection mapping, were intrigued by the launch of Christie’s InControl app. Those in fixed installation applications such as classrooms and boardrooms, houses of worship, government facilities and museums will equally benefit from being able to manage the projector wirelessly.

The main interface includes projector on/off, fade to black and shutter on/off, test pattern and main and secondary input selection, projector orientation, and OSD on/off for complete command of lens settings and imagery.

Those in the control room sector (or who are otherwise interested in video wall management) were delighted to see that Christie is already introducing the next generation of JumpStart content management, lining up alongside the Christie FHD551-X flat panel with optically-bonded Corning Gorilla Glass to offer super-narrow bezel LCD panels (Christie FHD551-XG) — as well as a further multi-touch video wall solution displayed in the LCD Panel Gallery. An industry first, this comprised a 4U x 1U row of portrait-mounted Christie FHD551-XG, the Christie Interactivity Kit and Christie JumpStart, which now boasts six outputs and the ability to drive content at 15 megapixels. With a 3.6 GHz processor, 16 GB memory and 64-bit server JumpStart’s more powerful workstation offers even faster performance.

Another popular product that was the focus of considerable attention was the Christie WeatherAll FHD551-W 55-inch outdoor LCD flat panel with optically bonded glass – perfect for high traffic areas such as outdoor sporting events. Fully weatherproof (IP56/NEMA 4), the Christie WeatherAll FHD551-W is impact- and scratch-resistant.

Further reinforcing its dominance in the video wall sector, the launch of the Christie Entero HB 72-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) display wall cube and rear projection light engine is designed to set new standards in power, performance and image brightness with up to 1100 lumens capability.

Built upon the Christie Entero HB platform – the only LED control room display to offer Wi-Fi capability for remote adjustment and diagnosis through any wireless device – it features proprietary third generation ArraySync for superior automatic colour and brightness management. Designed for 24/7 environments, its superior and intuitive modular design, easy upgradability, and flexible operation for the demands of power and utilities, government, security and surveillance, and public and emergency services, give it a strong competitive edge.

Driving the content was another recent innovation, the Christie Phoenix, which lets any user easily access, control and present audio-visual data simultaneously and securely from anywhere, at any time, via standard IP networking technology regardless of their location.

Christie-InfoComm2013-177_lowresWorking in conjunction with the Christie Spyder video processor, several Christie E Series 1-chip DLP projectors displayed rich, engaging content from this popular series. The booth also featured the Christie D4K3560 featuring 35,000 centre lumens, native 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution for ultra-realistic images. Delivering smoother video at 60Hz with unique Christie TruLife electronics, this represents a quantum leap in video-image processing for large applications, featuring HFR and high-resolution video projection.

The LCD gallery on the main level featured the Christie LW720, Christie LWU501i and Christie LW41, while the upper floor showcased the Christie Spyder X20, managing and controlling content displayed by several Christie E Series and Christie G Series projectors. This versatile hardware-based processor was used to manage the content throughout the booth, combined with the flexibility of a universal routing switcher.

Finally, anyone interested in groundbreaking moving yoke technology need look no further than the award-winning Christie Nitro Solutions; the integrated moving yokes and digital projector systems enable bright, high-quality video and lighting effects to be projected onto virtually any surface, and were represented at InfoComm 2013 by two Christie YK100 single-arm yokes, supporting Christie WU14K-M projectors.
