Estate agents benefit from lone worker protection peace of mind

Estate agents in the North West of England are now benefiting from an added layer of lone worker security when going to meet clients in potentially exposed situations in empty buildings.

Independent estate agent The Purple Property Shop, which manages sales and lettings across Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Ramsbottom, Rochdale, Westhoughton and Wigan, is now utilising Connexion2’s Identicom lone worker device to protect negotiators going to meetings in empty properties.

The Identicom product is styled similar to an identity badge to make it easy for the user to wear and discreet for any lone worker.

Using the system, representatives from the firm can activate an ‘Amber Alert’ when they enter an empty building and leave a short audio message outlining where they are, and what the potential risks are.

If this is then followed by a ‘Red Alert’ actioned on the device, the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) can access the previous message, discreetly listen to a live feed of the unfolding event and escalate an appropriate response.

All of the audio captured through the device is recorded, if needed for future use as court evidence, as, if required, the police will be contacted by the ARC and dispatched using the GPS technology enabled in the device.

Mathew Jones, Managing Director for The Purple Property Shop, said: “As my staff often have to meet strangers in empty buildings I realise they could potentially be vulnerable to verbal or physical abuse.

“I am very happy with the Identicom device, which provides me with the ability to monitor usage of the devices through the monthly reports I receive and peace of mind knowing that should a conflict situation arise they have the means to raise the alarm, eliciting a police response if required.“
