Simon Green, sales director at Genie CCTV, is embarking on a 100 mile cycle in aid of The Christie to raise funds for cancer research and treatment.
Simon is taking part in the Manchester 100 on Sunday 1st September and is raising funds for the pioneering cancer research work that is undertaken at The Christie. Based in Manchester, it is the largest cancer centre in Europe and treats more than 40,000 patients each year.
The Manchester 100 follows a 100 mile route throughout Cheshire, starting and finishing at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester. The circular route goes through the likes of Northwich, Delamere Forest and Nantwich as it sweeps through the county.
Simon said: “Cancer is something that will affect all our lives at some time. We all know someone who has suffered, be they relatives or friends, colleagues or merely acquaintances.
“Over the last few years I have lost my brother, uncle and mother in law, whilst other members of my family have successfully fought or are currently fighting this cruel disease.
“The Christie has a special place in my heart for the care it has provided to the ones I love and it desperately needs your financial help to continue providing this care and support to the 40,000 people that visit every year.
“Not only is it an excellent hospital, it also leads the way in research and development of treatments to battle cancer and give people a future.”
