IS hit new levels of barbarism – Jordanian Pilot Burned Alive

First Lieutenant Maaz al-Kassasbeh of the Jordanian Airforce, the F16 pilot who crashed and was captured by the IS in December 2014 was shown being burned alive in a series of pictures and a video just released today (Tuesday) by the so called IS through their official media outlet Al Furqan.

Locked in a metal cage with his head slumped forward in silent acceptance of what was about to happen to him. It seems he was dowsed in petrol and a trail set from the cage to where the callous IS executioner lit it.

The pictures suggest Maaz al-Kassasbeh made a statement before being executed but no audio has been released.

Jordan was negotiation for the release of First Lieutenant Maaz al-Kassasbeh in exchange for the release of Sajida al-Rishawi as well as the Japanese journalist Kenjo Goto.

Al-Rishawi is an Iraqi woman suspected of being a failed suicide bomber from the Amman hotel attacks which killed 57 people in November 2005 when her husband’s suicide belt detonated but hers failed.  She is believed to be the sister of a key aide to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a founder of al-Qaeda who were the forerunners of the IS. Kenji Goto was brutally beheaded on Saturday night.

Jordan threatened to fast-track the execution of Sajida al-Rishawi and other IS prisoners on death row if the terror group killed its captured pilot. They warned that Sajida al-Rishawi and other jailed ISIS commanders would be ‘quickly judged and sentenced’ in revenge for Muath al-Kaseasbeh’s death.

This latest form of barbarism form IS is a probable attempt to distract their supporters both internally and across the globe from their recent military defeats in Kobane and the Northern Iraq oil fields around Kirkuk.
