The International Foundation for Protection Officers

Established in 1988, the IFPO is an inclusive and diverse organization, with members and students globally. 

The International Foundation for Protection Officers is committed to the support and professional development of our members and all security officers, supervisors and managers.  Through advocacy, promoting training standards, providing accessible training, education and certification opportunities, we seek to enhance their professional standing as well as increase the perception of the vital services they provide. 

Membership is open to individual security practitioners, security organisations and corporate end users. 

Our UK & I Advisory Board is drawn from across the sector with most of its members having experience on the frontline as security officers or in the police or military.  Many of the AB also hold leadership roles with other industry associations. ifpo.uk/membership/  

Certifications 
Over 92,500 security professionals have attained IFPO, globally, recognised certifi cations. These certifications can be delivered online, in person or by distance learning. ifpo.uk/education  

Certified Protection Officer (CPO)  
The CPO program is designed for career-oriented security officers and supervisors who wish to learn more about security & asset protection. CPOs, CSSMs and CPOIs are required to recertify every two years, by showing continual professional development.  

 Certified in Security Supervision and Management (CSSM)  
Unique and flexible, the CSSM program is designed to meet the needs of the security supervisor or manager. CSSM Students need to have three years’ relevant experience.  

Certified Protection Officer Instructor (CPOI).   
CPOIs are instructors, professors, consultants and supervisors who teach various topics relating to security and asset protection.  They advance the objectives of the IFPO within their respective areas of employment.  Being designated as a Certified Protection Officer Instructor is a noteworthy achievement.  It is a significant career milestone.  

IFPO LEARN 
The new IFPO powered by Nuology eLearning platform has been designed by UK and Irish security professionals to provide engaging, interactive, CPD approved and Highfield accredited education programs. 

Easy-to-access on any computer or tablet, our programs will support the learning and career development of frontline security professionals by increasing their security skills and knowledge. The ability to create a learning path is a key feature of IFPO Learn.
