Lumidigm to display multi-factor verification with one sensor

“Authentication solutions can be provisioned to provide multiple authentication methods on a single sensor, which raises the security bar without increasing the device footprint or complexity for the user,” said Phil Scarfo, Lumidigm Senior VP of Sales and Marketing. “Alternatively, for those consumer applications with very high convenience requirements, the same smart imaging sensor can be used to provide a choice of authentication factors to users.”

Multispectral imaging is a sophisticated technology specifically developed to overcome the fingerprint capture problems that conventional imaging systems have in less-than-ideal conditions. This more effective technology is based on the use of multiple spectrums of light and advanced optical techniques to extract unique fingerprint characteristics from both the surface and subsurface of the skin. Now, this same technology can be used to authenticate factors beyond fingerprints such as copy-resistant optical credentials.

In addition to showing multiple modes of authentication on a single biometric sensor, Lumidigm will offer several demonstrations at booth 329:

·         Immigration: Foreign visitors to the Republic of Korea experience an immigration clearance process that features multi-biometric acquisition stations that depend on Lumidigm multispectral imaging sensors. Come interact with the SMARTCORE immigration solution!

·         Healthcare: Fingerprint biometrics is the most widely used biometric technology in healthcare for medication dispensing, electronic prescriptions of controlled substances, and for convenient, secure logins to electronic health records. BCC visitors can interact with a biometric medication dispensing cabinet top.

·         Transportation: With the touch of a finger, your car knows it’s you in the driver’s seat and adapts the settings, such as music and seat position, to your specific presets. Come see how fingerprint controls can be built into an automotive instrument panel console.

·         Commercial/Enterprise: Repeated logon transactions take time out of your busy workday. See how to facilitate seamless logons to the network and applications with a fingerprint biometric and say “goodbye” to the password!

To demonstrate the myriad of solutions now available with multispectral imaging-based biometrics, 16 Lumidigm partners will be represented in the Lumidigm booth. Visitors will also be able to view a video showing how multispectral imaging technology from Lumidigm can perform a plethora of tasks all on a single sensor. Capabilities to be shown include multifactor authentication, reading fingerprints through one-time use films, image capture of entire palms, reading QR codes, and capturing facial images.
