Morpho receives $6million order from CATSA

Morpho (Safran) has announced that the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) has ordered five CTX™ explosives detection systems (EDS) valued at $6 million.

Part of a five-year standing offer announced in 2013, Morpho Detection recently delivered two compact CTX 5800™ and will supply three high-speed CTX 9800 DSi™ EDS to screen hold baggage at airports in Canada later this year. To date, this standing offer has resulted in 19 CTX 5800 and 20 CTX 9800 being delivered and installed at airports throughout Canada.

Morpho Detection’s CTX EDS use advanced Computed Tomography (CT) technology to screen checked baggage in the most challenging airport environments. Capable of screening more than 1,000 bags per hour (BPH), Morpho Detection’s high-speed CTX 9800 enhances operational efficiencies by screening bags faster and with fewer false alarms. Designed to allow small- and mid-sized airports plan for evolving threats and future expansion, CTX 5800 combines industry-leading imaging and data collection in a smaller and lighter solution.

Both CTX 5800 and CTX 9800 are certified by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and approved by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) as meeting European Union Standard 3 requirements.
