The Head of Telematics at Plymouth-based monitoring specialist Securi-Guard Monitoring has landed a prestigious role with a new group focused on Lone Worker protection, which has been set up by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA).
Pete Stanley is one of eight industry professionals who make up BSIA’s recently launched Lone Worker Section, which is helping to raise the profile of the importance of lone worker protection.
BSIA – the trade association for the private security industry in the UK – decided to launch the new section in recognition of the growing market for lone worker protection products and services and as one of only a few companies offering National Security Inspectorate (NSI) BS8484 Gold accredited Lone Worker Services, Securi-Guard has excellent credentials to support its work.
The section represents companies operating in the personal protection market and which are helping to bring safety and security to the UK’s eight million lone workers through protection devices and their monitoring.
Securi-Guard – the region’s largest independent supplier of monitoring services – now has more than 1800 customers in the Lone Worker Protection Scheme, ranging from bailiffs, debt collectors and court enforcement officers to council workers and health and safety officers.
As a committee member of the new Lone Worker Section, Pete will be helping to support the work of the group in discussing new services, operational issues, as well as developing and maintaining good working practices.
“As one of only a few companies providing BS8484 accredited Lone Worker services this is an opportunity for Securi-Guard to play a key role in supporting and helping to shape future developments in this important service,” said Stanley.
“I am delighted and honoured to be asked to help BSIA and other leading providers of Lone Worker services bring our combined expertise and knowledge to what is a very dynamic and fast growing market.”
James Kelly, Chief Executive of BSIA, said: “The BSIA’s Lone Worker Industry Group has been growing for a number of years now – both in influence and in numbers – and it is excellent to see the group become a fully-fledged section of membership in its own right.
“With the Lone Worker market being so dynamic and fast-growing, the importance of quality is paramount. Members of the section represent the hallmark of quality and I look forward to watching the section progress, exerting its influence in developing industry standards and codes of practice, along with promoting the importance of the BS8484 standard.”
Stanley’s appointment to the new group – launched at the IFSEC International security event at Birmingham’s NEC last month – is in recognition of his extensive experience of Lone Worker products and monitoring services, as well as in the field of telematics as a whole.
As a key member of Securi-Guard’s Monitoring Services team, Stanley provides close support for both existing and potential clients, as well as providers of telematics/lone worker products monitored by Securi-Guard’s Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC)/Secure Operating Centre (SOC)
He was also instrumental in the launch of Securi-Guard’s Securi-Track system, offering vehicle tracking incident management services across Europe with the help of a specially recruited team of security companies in key European countries.
NSI Lone Worker accreditation is one of five Gold awards Securi-Guard holds for its Monitoring services:
The company’s further gold awards are for:
- ARC intruder alarm monitoring
