The recent Global Security Summit at London’s Olympia exhibition centre provided an ideal backdrop for the high profile launch of the Harmony Alliance, a solutions-driven initiative created by four leading UK-headquartered electronic security product manufacturers. The Harmony Alliance is looking to bring new thinking to the world of security integration, and product selection, for consultants, installers and end users who may be considering their requirements for large-scale or multi-site projects.

Underlining the importance of the roll-out of the Harmony Alliance for the security businesses behind the move, the managing directors from each of the member companies were on hand for the official unveiling on the first day of the Global Security Summit. Those in attendance were: Ian Moore (Elmdene International Limited), John Davies (TDSi), Mark Tibbenham (GJD) and Jim Ludwig (Texecom). The founding manufacturers, whose combined efforts have been instrumental in bringing the Harmony Alliance to market, are all recognised leaders in their respective security fields and share a strong commitment to product innovation and best practice.

Considering the response to the new initiative from visitors to the Global Security Summit, Clym Brown, spokesperson for the Harmony Alliance, is enthusiastic about the reception to date: “Although it is still early days, the feedback from the launch has been very positive. We are particularly pleased with the strong interest expressed in what we are doing during the face-to-face ‘Meet the Buyers’ sessions at the Global Security Summit. This is part of the longer term conversation we want to have at the Harmony Alliance with potential customers to understand their specific requirements and, at a wider level, their thoughts on how they would like to work with us.

“The Harmony Alliance is all about bringing specialist, like-minded, providers together – with complementary expertise – who can give a fresh perspective on major projects beyond that provided by traditional players. We feel that by combining forces through the Harmony Alliance in this way we are more likely to have our voice heard at the project level. Moving forward, our focus is going to be on ‘best of breed’ security integration, offering the peace of mind for customers that each part of the system will work together and be ‘fit-for-purpose’. We will not be seeking to provide products in isolation but rather in the context of each project.”

Looking in more detail at the security product providers backing the Harmony Alliance: Elmdene International Limited specialises in highly efficient power supplies, sounders and magnetic contacts plus ancillary products; TDSi is a major global supplier of integrated access control systems; GJD offers advanced exterior detection equipment alongside CCTV and lighting controllers and Texecom is an award-winning manufacturer of intruder alarm products.

The first point of contact for installers and end users who would like more information on the Harmony Alliance, and have specific project requirements in mind, is via a new dedicated website: www.harmony-alliance.com. Featured on the website are sector-specific examples of how Alliance solutions could, potentially, be deployed. The examples highlighted include: an airport, a multi-site hospital, an education establishment, a manufacturing plant and a data centre.
