RISCO Apps enhance systems, brand & revenue control RISCO Group has released a more powerful version of its iRISCO Smartphone App and a new, customisable app for installers, called FreeControl. Enhancing systems operation, the v4.2.2 app can be used to control up to 15 panels, and users can navigate the App during alarms without the need to re-arm or disarm the system. In addition, images and video can be zoomed-in, viewed to fit the screen, and rotated to landscape mode. FreeControl, works in exactly the same way as iRISCO, offering a host of practical, operational, and commercial additional value benefits. With FreeControl, installers can customise systems control and create corporate branding to tailor the functionality and appearance of the App for any bespoke systems use. Featuring User Profile Management, installers can customise profiles to select which paid for services their customers can access. This allows an installer to monetise their offering by determining which services a user can access at a particular time (set & unset, visual verification, home automation, etc.) Using this feature, installers can protect their revenue and manage exactly how they use the enhanced functionality provided by RISCO Cloud services to upgrade a basic panel installation. Allowing the App to be privately-labelled, RISCO’s new FreeControl App (see RISCO T&Cs for terms of use), allows installation companies to promote and strengthen their brand by customising the appearance of the App – by using their own logo and changing themes to match their own corporate colour schemes. Set-up is quick and easy too, and once applied, every RISCO Cloud connected panel will automatically ‘pull’ the individual default settings into the FreeControl Apps associated to that specific system. RISCO Group creates integrated security solutions for global security markets. From software solutions to high-performance wired and wireless integrated systems, the company develops products matching customers’ requirements and industry standards. RISCO Group’s solutions for buildings and control rooms, sophisticated detector technology, intrusion, video and access control systems are found in commercial, industrial, institutional and residential applications around the world. CESG Certified Scheme extended to multiple countries CESG Certified Professional (CCP) scheme offered outside of the UK for the first time to drive up skills of cyber security professionals APMG International is working with CESG to deliver its cyber security competency scheme for Information Assurance (IA) professionals in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This is a pilot which offers new opportunities for IA professionals in these countries to have their expertise in cyber security assessed against CESG standards. Two roles are being offered as part of the pilot – Security and Information Risk Advisor (SIRA) and IA Architect – at three levels of competency; Practitioner, Senior Practitioner, and Lead Practitioner. The entire APMG application process is managed and delivered online via a secure administrative system. CCP has been developed as part of the UK Government’s Cyber Security Strategy to address the growing need for appropriately-skilled specialists within the cyber security profession, and to raise levels of professionalism in IA. Certification allows cyber security professionals to prove their competency, establishes a learning pathway where higher skill levels can be achieved, and provides assurance to employers that their staff have the correct skill sets for specific roles. Since its launch in 2012, CCP has built a community of recognized cyber security professionals in both the UK public and private sectors with circa 1200 individuals achieving the certification. Chris Ensor, Deputy Director, National Technical Authority for Information Assurance, GCHQ, commented: “It’s nearly 3 years since CCP was launched and I am really pleased and proud to have seen it flourish over that time. First of all we offered CCP to the UK public sector, then to the UK private sector and now we are supporting APMG and BCS to expand it beyond the UK. We are delighted to see CCP being taken to these new markets which should enhance its appeal to industry.” Richard Pharro, CEO of APMG International, added: “CESG has a world-leading pedigree in cyber security and this pilot offers cyber security professionals in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand the unique opportunity to measure their credentials against the CESG best practice framework. CCP has been developed as part of a comprehensive learning pathway for the cyber security profession, helping IA professionals to be assessed and enhance their worth in the labour market by demonstrating their core competencies to prospective employers. It also helps employers of cyber security professionals to make informed choices when selecting staff and training, ensuring they employ the best qualified people for the job.” The pilot is now live and is being run until 31st March 2016. Blue Coat acquires Perspecsys to effectively make Public Cloud Applications private Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a market leader in enterprise security, have announced it has acquired Perspecsys, Inc., a leader in enterprise cloud data protection solutions. With this acquisition, Blue Coat significantly expands its cloud security offerings while enhancing the industry’s most robust hybrid cloud portfolio. This expanded portfolio positions Blue Coat as a leader in the Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) segment and sets a new bar for data protection within cloud applications. “CASBs have become the primary means of layering security onto SaaS (Software as a Service) applications. Industry analysts predict substantial growth for this space over the next five years. As SaaS deployments continue to increase, this technology will become an essential component of enterprise data and cloud security.” said Mike Fey, Blue Coat president and COO. This acquisition enables Blue Coat to offer the industry’s widest range of CASB capabilities within its market-leading Secure Web Gateway portfolio. Together, Perspecsys and Blue Coat deliver the industry’s leading solution for protecting data in an era of user-led cloud application consumption, dramatically enhancing security for corporate-approved cloud applications and services. As dependency on cloud applications grows, enterprises are faced with a number of issues regarding data privacy, compliance and security. These include compliance requirements for Personally-Identifiable-Information (PII), as well as payment (PCI) and protected health information (HIPAA); strict data governance and regional residency rules for multinational companies; and most prominently, the continuous global news of data breaches. These concerns can be an inhibitor to the adoption of cloud applications for many organisations. Perspecsys’ Cloud Data Protection platform solves the key business risks associated with data compliance, privacy and security for enterprises as they move to adopt cloud-based applications. Through the use of its patented cloud data tokenisation and encryption capabilities, Perspecsys puts enterprises in complete control of their data at all times, regardless of where the data resides, both while in use and at rest in the cloud. By removing the risks associated with placing sensitive data in the cloud with applications such as salesforce.com, ServiceNow and Oracle, Perspecsys effectively makes the public cloud private. “To gain control over the explosion of cloud application usage, our customers tell us that the proxy is the logical location to implement CASB features and with our historic strength and understanding of web applications it is a perfect fit. Given that more than 50 percent of our customers are based overseas, and as we look to expand our vision for cloud protection, we are paying close attention to the unique needs of multinationals that reside or are doing business in geographies with strict compliance and data sovereignty requirements. Perspecsys has delivered an approach for encrypting and tokenising data in the cloud that can actually be used in the real world by global customers, making it a disruptive force in the market and a great addition to Blue Coat. In summary, Perspecsys’ capability reduces corporate cyber-crime risk. Management of data at rest via tokenising or encrypting is rapidly becoming a critical element of cyber defence for both corporate owned infrastructure and cloud applications.” said Greg Clark, Blue Coat CEO. “We’re excited to be joining forces with Blue Coat. As the largest content security provider on the planet and a leader in CASB, Blue Coat is the logical source for these security services. Enterprises want to buy this class of solution from Blue Coat and Perspecsys’ Cloud Data Protection is a natural complement to Blue Coat’s widely recognised portfolio of cloud and proxy technologies,” said David Canellos, Perspecsys CEO. For those that don’t know, Perspecsys’ Cloud Data Protection platform solves key data compliance, privacy and security concerns for enterprises adopting cloud-based applications. The solution puts enterprises in complete control of their cloud data at all times, allowing them to simply address the leading data compliance and security challenges impacting enterprise cloud adoption. By removing the security issues and operational risks associated with placing sensitive data in the cloud, Perspecsys makes the public cloud private. Before its acquisition by Blue Coat, Perspecsys, Inc. was a privately held company backed by investors, including Intel Capital, Paladin Capital and Ascent Venture Partners. To remind you, Blue Coat is a leader in enterprise security, providing on-premise, hybrid and cloud-based solutions for protecting web connectivity, combating advanced threats and responding to security breaches. Blue Coat is the global market leader in securing connection to the web and counts nearly 80 percent of the Global Fortune 500 as its customers. Blue Coat was acquired by Bain Capital in March of 2015.
