TDSi launch new VMS at the Security Event

Integrated Access Control and Security manufacturer TDSi announces it will be unveiling its new cloud-based GARDiSVU video management solution (VMS) at The Security Event 2023, which takes place from 25-27 April at the NEC Birmingham, UK. Appearing on Stand 4/G40, TDSi will also be giving visitors a chance to view its new GARDiS App in action, which enables security operators to securely control a wealth of different access control options from anywhere using a compatible iOS or Android device, as well as discussing the latest additions to the new version 2.5 of its powerful GARDiS software.     TDSi is gearing up for another busy appearance at the show as Managing Director John Davies commented, “We are always excited to be appearing at The Security Event, but this year we have a particularly impressive array of new products to showcase to visitors. We are especially proud to be launching our new GARDiSVU video management solution which is TDSi’s first cloud-based CCTV offering, and we will have a dedicated pod on Stand 4/G40 to demonstrate the system and its considerable abilities.” GARDiSVU is a major project for TDSi and provides integration between the GARDiS software platform and the cloud computing engine and CCTV system from fellow VITAPROTECH Group member RECAS. Based upon the powerful Foxstream video analytics engine, GARDiSVU will be available in the UK and internationally, replacing the previous VUgarde solution with an industry leading cloud-based alternative that fully embraces the flexibility and convenience of this approach. The Security Event is also a great opportunity to learn more about the versatility and flexibility of TDSi’s highly secure GARDiS App. This provides a number of important features for security operators looking to access the GARDiS system via a mobile device, including People Management (add, edit, or delete users from access authorisation), Live Events information, Door Control, and Visual Verification. The new Version 2.5 of TDSi’s GARDiS software features a number of new integrations with other systems/security providers including Pelco’s VideoXpert, HikVision’s HikCentral platform, and Suprema’s biometric readers. New features include enhanced mantrap/air locking functionality and local anti passback (across a reader or group of readers), departmental (as well as individual) default access levels and additional access permissions for specific groups, along with egress buttons scheduling. As well as preparing its latest products and updates, TDSi has been busy promoting its forthcoming appearance at The Security Event, as John elaborated, “If you look at the size of the show it has pretty much doubled every year since it launched, and we are looking forward to welcoming even more visitors to our stand this year. We have conducted a lot of pre-show targeted marketing to specific vertical sectors, such as healthcare, education, and construction, as we think it is the perfect opportunity for end users, as well as installers, to see the array of secure access control and integrated security systems that are on offer.” John added, “If you are attending The Security Event 2023, we will be delighted to welcome you to Stand 4/G40 and to discuss your security needs and pain points. We are also proud to be sponsoring the Happy Hour this year, which is always a great opportunity for people to get together and network at the end of each day’s exhibiting, which is an important part of a face-to-face event like this.” To read more news and exclusive features see our latest issue here. European Security Spending to Grow 10.6% in 2023

Growing security needs, new regulations, and the increasing risk of ransomware attacks due to the current geopolitical situation continue to drive European security spending. According to IDC’s Worldwide Security Spending Guide, total European spending will grow 10.6% in 2023. Spending in the region will continue to see almost-double-digit growth over the forecast period, with total spend reaching $71 billion in 2026. The U.K., Germany, and France are the top spenders on security, together accounting for over half of the European security market. In Central and Eastern Europe, Czech Republic will have the fastest growth in 2023, at over 12% YoY. “IDC research shows that ongoing disruptions and a dynamic threat landscape have led European organizations to rethink their cyber resilience and proactively ensure their organization maintains good cyber hygiene,” said Romain Fouchereau, research manager, IDC European Security. “Adopting zero-trust principles to harden security measures and implement secure access controls across networks, applications, and devices has become a top priority, with a defined strategy and support from senior management for new investments and initiatives.” European spending on software will lead YoY growth in 2023, with approximately 11% YoY growth, but security services will see the largest spending in 2023, reflecting its key role for European organizations across industries. “We’re seeing that in addition to software and hardware, European companies also have a very real need for security services to guarantee their continued operations and regulatory adherence,” said Vladimir Zivadinovic, senior research analyst, IDC European Data and Analytics. “This is especially true for organizations with limited competencies in security, especially SMBs in less digitally mature verticals such as media, manufacturing, and healthcare.” In 2023, the finance sector will have the highest spending in Europe, driven by the need for data protection and regulatory compliance. At the same time, market dynamics are pushing financial institutions to increase their responsiveness and agility. Security services will be pivotal to unlock the full potential of their internal IT teams to focus on new services and improved customer experience. Finance will be closely followed by manufacturing, with the government sector having the third-largest spending in 2023. Manufacturing will continue to focus on protecting its industrial assets, which will be increasingly connected with the enterprise IT network. The government sector will continue to invest in data protection and in executing its digital transformation initiatives, which are being targeted by ever more sophisticated ransomware attacks. IDC’s Worldwide Security Spending Guide quantifies the global revenue opportunity for both core and next-generation security purchases with detailed forecast data for security spending by 20 industries across nine regions and 44 countries. LifeSafety Power’s BiTSTREAM Expands PoE Solutions

Power over Ethernet (PoE) installations will reach into the billions in the coming years and there’s good reason for the technology’s popularity: it’s the perfect way to extend power to new devices and locations while enhancing systems integrations. LifeSafety Power is helping perpetuate this trend with its expanding family of BiTSTREAM IEEE 802.3bt-compliant midspan injectors, switches and PoE-powered DC power supply/chargers. UL 294-listed BiTSTREAM meets the high-power PoE++ standard, with the ability to power an access control system exclusively through PoE. BiTSTREAM rackmount midspans and switches also incorporate a patented Single-Point Fire Interface (SFI) that lowers system deployment costs over existing PoE-powered access solutions. On display at Booth #8081 during ISC West 2023, the latest addition to the BiTSTREAM line is the BTS500 network switch, which can be used to power and pass data to PoE compliant cameras, locks, infrared illuminators and access control edge devices. Coming soon to market, BTS500 features an 8-port unmanaged PoE switch, rack mount configuration and network monitoring for remote management. Network monitoring for the PoE outputs yields data on voltage, current, power measurements, battery and fault status, and allows power cycling remotely for each network port. Unique SFI egress feature BiTSTREAM PoE midspans and network switches incorporate a Single-Point Fire Interface (SFI) feature that allows egress on fire alarms through a single centralized fire alarm connection. This patented feature unique to the BITSTREAM product line drops lock power to unlock doors when a fire event is detected and free egress is required for life safety. SFI eliminates the need to pull additional wiring for fire drop connections to each door, saving cost and simplifying installation. An integrated battery charger provides dedicated backup for all connected PoE devices, reducing load on the system UPS. Configurable ports, certificate selection, complex passwords and other secure settings protect against cyber-attack. Also in the product family, the BT500 rackmount midspan injector powers and passes data to 8 or 16 PoE-compliant devices. BT and BTS models yield 500 watts total power with up to 90 watts per port and feature a universal AC input for global deployment. The BT500 is fully network managed, allowing monitoring of voltage, current and power per zone, battery monitoring and individual or batch zone shutdown for resetting devices. Both BT and BTS models are compatible with MSM Enterprise™ for total system visibility. BiTSTREAM also includes the BX series access control product supplies (BX50 and BX75) that convert PoE to 12 and 24VDC power for locks, access control, surveillance or other applications. The BX50 is 50 watts and works with the SFI input on the new midspans to disengage power to locks in the event of a fire alarm. The BX75 provides 75 watts of power and works on any PoE midspan or switch and has a local fire drop connection.
