In response to end-user requirements, DroneShield Ltd has released the DroneCannon Remote Weapon (RW), enabling third-party manufacturers to offer a combined ‘hard kill/soft kill’ layered counterdrone system.
The lightweight ‘soft kill’ drone jammer has been designed for use with ‘hard kill’ remote weapon stations and can be used on a fixed site or vehicle solution.
Historically, DroneShield has focussed on ‘soft kill’ counterdrone solutions, which means that DroneShield’s products interdict drones through technological interference rather than kinetic impact.
With military users around the world recognising the effectiveness of ‘soft kill’ drone defences, there has been an increasing demand for solutions that integrate with existing ‘hard kill’ systems.
In response to this growing demand, the DroneCannon RW is system-agnostic and can be integrated with third-party remote weapon stations, allowing manufacturers of unmanned weapon systems to add a ‘soft kill’ option to their existing products, which may already be in service.
Oleg Vornik, CEO of DroneShield, commented: “The release of DroneCannon RW marks two important milestones for the company. Firstly, DroneShield is now one of the only defence and security companies that enables its customers to combine ‘soft kill’ and ‘hard kill’ counterdrone solutions, all seamlessly integrated into one system.
“Secondly, this system continues our entry into the on-vehicle counterdrone segment following our recent Rapid Scout partnership – a technological and unique challenge within the existing market.”
