ASSA ABLOY access control goes global with G4S integration

assa-abloy-newA new global partnership sees the G4S Symmetry Security Management System now integrated with ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio wireless lock technology platform.

ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio is designed to upgrade mechanically locked doors and wirelessly connect them online and offline to new or existing access control systems, with minimal modification to doors and premises, offering a cost effective and simple security upgrade.

As the world’s leading global security and outsourcing group, G4S now offers its specialist Symmetry software platform to control and integrate with the entire Aperio portfolio of wireless locking solutions to provide customers with a flexible, wireless expansion capability, without compromising on aesthetics.

Says David Weinbach, Product Manager for G4S: “Aperio technology is incorporated into a broad range of locking products and offers our customers a tremendous array of options for applications, capability, credential technology, and appearance.  When integrated with our Symmetry Security Management System, this allows the greatest functional and aesthetic flexibility to meet the needs of any expansion, upgrade, or new construction project.”

G4S-LogoG4S’s new Symmetry EN-LDBU Controller acts as the bridge between Aperio Serial Hubs and the Symmetry Security Management System. When a credential is presented to an Aperio lock, the card data is sent via RF communications to the Aperio hub.

The Aperio hub transfers this to the Symmetry EN-LDBU. The EN-LDBU contains a continuously updated database of credentials and permissions, and is able to autonomously process the request from the lock and make the access control decision independently of the Symmetry server.

Damian Marsh, ASSA ABLOY Access Control Managing Director concluded:  “G4S is one of the foremost innovators and suppliers within the security industry. This is a truly exciting integration for ASSA ABLOY Access Control, not only because of its global scale, but also the additional new ability for us assist with all phases of project planning and deployment.

“Together, G4S and ASSA ABLOY Access Control can be involved in security specification at a much earlier stage of the decision making process, to understand bespoke requirements and tailor the extensive Aperio solutions. The more integrations we can build on such a global scale, we can continue to deliver simple and intelligent ways of upgrading the controllability and security level of any premises.”

ASSA ABLOY Access Control is a division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, dedicated to satisfying end-user needs for security, safety and convenience.  In the UK Portobello Headquarters in Willenhall, ASSA ABLOY manufactures and sells mechanical, electromechanical and electronic locks, cylinders, security doors and fittings.
