Securi-Guard Monitoring is helping to win the war on rural crime by ensuring its customers living and working in the countryside have access to the very latest technology to protect their premises.
The Plymouth-based company’s wide range of security and monitoring solutions are playing a key role in the reduction of thefts of equipment and machinery across the South West.
Figures released by leading insurer NFU Mutual show that rural crime across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset cost almost £2 million in 2012, driven by thefts of agricultural machinery and tools.
But there is cause for optimism as thefts across the wider region have fallen significantly from £7.6 million in 2011 to £5.6 million last year, with the cost of countryside crime nationally also showing a major fall.
Despite the falls, NFU Mutual say much still needs to be done to combat the rural criminals and have urged owners of farms, homes and other rural businesses to ensure they are adequately protected.
Scott Boyd, managing director at Securi-Guard Fire and Security, said developments in technology meant rural homeowners and businesses could now get access to security equipment that would give them total peace of mind.
“There are many sophisticated, yet very cost effective products available today that are utilising the latest technology to deliver excellent protection against theft and the threat of intruders,” said Boyd.
“We have one of the widest ranges of security solutions available in the South West and are always assessing new products and services to ensure we are keeping pace with all the technological advances.”
Securi-Guard offers the complete range of fire and intruder alarms, CCTV as well as vehicle and lone worker monitoring, all monitored from its state of the art Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC)
Its products and services include iwitness, a wireless CCTV system that can be installed in minutes and combines sensors and video to catch intruders in the act. The system is ideal for remote buildings, often in rural locations, and for those buildings that maybe vacant for a period of time.
With the theft of heating oil a major problem in rural areas, Securi-Guard also offers the Fuel-Guard system, which can stop thieves in their tracks by detecting if a cap on a tank has been tampered with or if the oil level drops faster than it should.
