Mul-T-Lock’s SMARTair™ access control solution has been installed at the Bodhisattva Kadampa Meditation Centre, to accommodate the unique requirements of its staff and guests at the historic site in Brighton.
The Bodhisattva Kadampa Meditation Centre is home to an international Buddhist community and its appointed residents. Visitors can enjoy meditation classes, day courses and meditation retreats; and the centre’s World Peace Café is open to the general public.
With diverse access requirements for staff and guests on site, managers sought to replace the out-dated mechanical system with an access control solution to accommodate the varying security rights. The system also had to suit the unique architecture of parts of the centre, which dates back to 1900.
Local Mul-T-Lock dealer, Thomas Locksmiths, recommended Mul-T-Lock’s self-contained SMARTair wireless access control system as an easy to install solution that could accommodate the requirements of the centre as a whole, using a combination of electronic handles and readers.
Paul Bosley, Administrative Director at Bodhisattva Kadampa Meditation Centre, said: “Our meditation centre, which has stood since the 19th century, is a special place of tranquillity, rest, reflection and friendship. Home to an international Buddhist community, and an extended community of non-residential members, we also welcome the general public to share in our centre’s facilities.
“When it came to upgrading the security, we had to ensure all measures complemented the mix of architecture but did not affect the peaceful ambience. Thomas Locksmiths immediately recommended Mul-T-Lock’s SMARTair, which was fitted with no disruption to the daily running of our centre and has perfectly achieved our objectives.”
Mul-T-Lock’s SMARTair™ handles overcome many of the problems usually associated with access control, as there’s no hard wiring and installation time is swift and efficient. User cards are easily added to, and removed, from the system, which allows the Bodhisattva Kadampa Meditation Centre to provide flexible and convenient security.
Tom Hyslop, Business Development Manager at Mul-T-Lock, comments: “The Meditation Centre is a unique project for us, as the building is used for both residential and commercial use. The centre required a solution that provided maximum security for residents, yet allowed for easy and regular access to visitors and the general public. SMARTair was the ideal solution; not only does it achieve these objectives, but does so with no compromise to the aesthetics of the building design.”
The SMARTair™ Wireless system is an all-in-one sophisticated access control solution; designed to be a stylish enhancement to any door, and is the future of hospitality security.”
