For Stadtwerke Speyer, flexibility and affordability are the keys to CLIQ
Security at Stadtwerke Speyer is paramount. The company runs the infrastructure that keeps a large Rhineland town on the move, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. To secure services to the town’s 50,000 residents, the company turned to CLIQ®.
Stadtwerke Speyer installed approximately 300 CLIQ® locking cylinders to secure sites including heating plants, waste management facilities, harbours and commuter ferries. Why CLIQ®? “CLIQ® makes our daily work much easier, thanks to its flexibility,” says Ralf Lange, security officer at Stadtwerke Speyer.
It is now quick and straightforward for security staff to reprogram cylinders when access rights need to be changed. A lost key presents no security risk: staff simply de-authorize it, and issue a replacement on demand. The CLIQ® Web Manager software allows Stadtwerke Speyer staff to generate instant audit trails and track the use of individual locks or keys.
A CLIQ® locking system is also wireless. Locks power up when a CLIQ® key is inserted. Keys just need a standard battery, delivering further cost savings for Stadtwerke Speyer.
“There’s no margin for error when a utility provides so many vital services. One big advantage of CLIQ® is that it has already proven itself in the field,” says Alexander Kroll, Product Manager Mechatronic Locking Cylinder at ASSA ABLOY Germany. “CLIQ® mechatronic locks secure utilities and other important infrastructure sites all over Europe, now including plants and services in and around Speyer.”
CLIQ® is a high security locking system with high-end microelectronics, programmable keys and locks. The system offers a variety of combinations of mechanical and electronic systems to match different security and flexible access needs. Available on the global market place, it provides flexible access and key management solutions for all kinds of locking applications. CLIQ® Remote solution is designed for distant sites, enabling the commissioning, programming and full administration of security management centrally via web-based software.
With a 2010 turnover of over €67 million, Stadtwerke Speyer GmbH (www.sws.speyer.de), or SWS, supplies the residents of the Rhineland town of Speyer with power, gas, water, and district heating. SWS also runs Speyer’s waste management, and a subsidiary is responsible for public transport, harbours, park management, and ferry services.
