ASSA ABLOY’s mechanical to digital journey, stand e1100 at IFSEC

As the security industry is in the midst of a digital revolution, ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, will showcase its journey from mechanical to digital security at IFSEC 2016.

Visitors can expect ASSA ABLOY’s stand at IFSEC 2016 to be the most impressive to date, as brands such as ASSA ABLOY, Yale, Abloy and Traka, exhibit their strength in mechanical and digital security solutions on stand E1100 in Hall S7 of Excel, London, from 21-23 June.

ASSA ABLOY has an extensive history of mechanical locking devices, which provide the solid functions of any security system: identification (the key and the cylinder) and mechanical strength (the lock). Door locks, deadbolts, camlocks, mortice locks, padlocks, door handles and exit devices are a few examples of traditional mechanical lock and hardware products provided by ASSA ABLOY brands.

However, the emergence of connected living and smart homes as part of the Internet of Things development has been a major catalyst for the creation of smart door locks and accompanying products designed to integrate seamlessly with digital control systems or provide convenient stand-alone access control. A smart home should always start with a smart door.

Smartdoor locks offer a convenient and secure alternative to mechanical locking, however mechanical and digital solutions can supplement each other, creating secure environments with the required level of access. ASSA ABLOY’s extensive experience with mechanical security has provided the organisation with the knowledge to develop an effective digital offering.

IFSEC will also see Gareth Ellams, Managing Director at ASSA ABLOY Access Control and Pat Jefferies Dip GAI mInst AI, Commercial Director at Abloy UK, take part in a panel discussion at the event on day two – 22nd June 2016.

The panel discussion will take place at 11am at the Installer Theatre, where Gareth and Pat will be offering their insight into the Future of Access Control, alongside representatives from Memoori, PAXTON, SALTO and TDSi.

Gareth Ellams, Managing Director at ASSA ABLOY Access Control, said: “IFSEC is an excellent platform for us to showcase our journey from mechanical to digital security. Stand E1100 will demonstrate how ASSA ABLOY’s future-proof solutions, help to mitigate risk across a wide range of end user markets, including the commercial, education, health, transport, retail and residential sectors.

“ASSA ABLOY is a leading solution provider with a continued focus on innovation and Pat and I are excited to have been invited to the panel discussion to offer our insight into the Future of Access Control. We are also looking forward to hearing the views of other security companies, at this exciting time of change in the security industry.”
