The SPC Connect app puts control in the hands of the End User

Technology is rapidly changing the world as we know it. One of the main driving forces dictating the pace of this change is the smartphone culture as mobile phones have all but become an extension of the human body. Some experts have even gone as far as to argue that the smartphone culture is one of the first signs of integration between human beings and artificial intelligence.

“With apps on your mobile device, you can now order your groceries, shop for the latest fashion trends, manage your finances, or watch your favorite TV shows. Everything is now within the click of a button. Therefore, it was only through natural evolution that the security industry would adapt to this consumer demand,” says Vanderbilt Product Manager John O’Donnell.

Cue the SPC Connect app. SPC Connect is a cloud-based intrusion solution that enables users to monitor, maintain, and manage SPC panels remotely. One of the product’s key features is that it enables end users to download the SPC Connect app free of charge from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

The SPC Connect app feature provides end users with an interface that contributes clearer arming and status information and allows for remotely carrying out tasks such as controlling doors, setting or un-setting an alarm, or isolating a zone. “This instant and remote access to any potential alarm helps save a huge amount of time for those involved in maintaining the system,” explains O’Donnell.

For example, say a caretaker oversees maintenance for a dozen or so buildings, and an alarm is triggered in one of the buildings. If he happens to be working on the other side of the town and physically getting to the incident is logistically difficult, all he needs to do is take out his smartphone, access the SPC Connect app, view the event investigate further remotely. Simple as.

O’Donnell further summarizes: “The SPC Connect app allows you to receive real-time security alerts. You can then immediately investigate the issue and act if necessary. So, if you are a small business owner and an alarm triggers in the middle of the night it saves you having to hop out of bed and drive to your office to investigate. Instead you will receive an email notification to your smartphone and then, with your IP-cameras connected to SPC, you can check the live video feed on your smartphone to examine the alert further.

“It saves a lot of time and money, but it also brings comfort and peace of mind to the end user as well. With smartphone technology embedding into our way of life, it’s important the security industry proves its agility, adaptability, and dependability in keeping up with consumer trends. The SPC Connect app is a big step forward for Vanderbilt in showing our customer’s that we have our ear to the ground.”
