[Note: During the interview, I mispoke and said Bournemouth when I meant to say Brighton. So apologies for that!]

Lincoln Council is looking at the possibility of cutting CCTV services to save £483,000 per year. The Conservative-led council says it needs to save £2.35 million by 2013 which could spell the end of the city’s 133 cameras.

The decision follows a move by nearby North Kesteven Council to switch off an eight-camera system in Sleaford and another four in North Hykeham.

The council will be leading a CCTV review with Lincolnshire police, local businesses and the public, but as part of the debate, BBC Lincolnshire contacted me this morning to ask for my views.

My interview is preceded by a plea from the father of a murdered man to keep the cameras because of the crucial role that CCTV played in convicting his son’s killers.
