Two new Gibraltar pyramid series proximity readers optimised for applications requiring bullet resistance with led status indication.

Hargrave, Northamptonshire –February, 2010 — Security Technologies Group (STG) announced today the availability of the P-453 and P-455 Gibraltar bullet resistant Proximity Readers for their Pyramid Series ProximityTM line by Farpointe Data Inc.

The Gibraltar Proximity Readers are members of the Pyramid Series Proximity® line of OEM proximity readers, cards and tags. Designed for the very highest levels of vandal resistance, these readers are constructed of stainless steel and Fiber-Tex, a UL 752 listed material for bulletproof integrity, feature epoxy potted electronics, and ship standard with tamper-proof screws. Gibraltar readers are ideal for locations where crime and vandalism are a constant threat, such as schools, universities and inner-city environments.

The P-453 is a single-piece design which mounts directly to metal door or window frames (mullion) or flat surfaces. The P-455 is a single-piece design which mounts directly to plastic or metal wall switch boxes or flat surfaces.

Both readers support Farpointe’s 125-kHz Pyramid Series Proximity cards and tags, as well as HID and/or AWID standard 125-kHz proximity cards and tags. Each reader utilises pass-through wiegand (industry standard 26-bit and custom) and magnetic stripe output formats, allowing connection to the majority of access control systems.  This provides maximum flexibility and ensures that these readers, as do the other readers in our range, can be mixed with other manufacturers readers on an access control system.

Each reader includes a beeper and 4-state LED (red, green, amber & off) with provision for both system and local control.  The added benefits of our MAXSecureTM option provides an additional layer of system security thus ensuring unparalleled levels of integrity.

Said Denis Kane, Director of STG, “we have had a bullet resistant reader within our product portfolio for some time and although it has sold well in sectors where the ability to withstand vandal attacks is a prerequisite, customers have asked for enhancements such as LED status indication and greater read ranges.  These two new additional readers address this requirement and add increased aesthetic appeal.”

“Yet again we have stepped up to the challenge and produced a solution that not only meets, but also exceeds, customer demands.” noted Kane.
