Bradford control room awarded BS5979 Cat II

Bradford City Council has achieved the British Standard for Alarm Receiving Centres, BS:5979 Cat II. Although the authority has been monitoring council alarms since 2002, the decision was taken to become accredited, adding further credibility to its service.

Operating alongside their public space CCTV, BS:5979 compliance means the council control room can now obtain police response for intruder alarm activations.

Bradfordcouncil recently upgraded their monitoring platform to the Gemini integrated solution. This not only allows handling of all alarm types in the authority, but also can support a full range of other monitoring services such as lone worker protection and event activated CCTV.

Bold Gemini is the most widely used monitoring platform in UK alarm receiving centres, offering total control room management and supported by 24/7 Bold technical specialists. Bold software supports compliance with all the standards for alarm receiving centre software, essential for BS:5979 accreditation.

CCTV Manager, Phil Holmes, commented, “It has always been important to observe best practice in the operation of our control room. However, we felt that our quality commitment could be further demonstrated by taking the measures needed to achieve BS:5979. Although not a simple process, compliance enhances our monitoring operation and provides a mark of quality for our clients.”
