As IFSEC itself celebrates 40 years as the industry’s premier trade show, security manufacturer, GJD, has an anniversary of its own to celebrate. 2013 represents 30 years of UK manufacturing for GJD, a milestone that the company will be celebrating at IFSEC by showcasing a range of new and exciting professional security products on its stand in Hall 4, D17. On show will be GJD’s ‘Pearl Window Detector’ Clarius range of LED IR White Light Illuminators and the new GJD D-TECT LZR laser detector, as well as a range of digitally communicating devices.

Integrated security solutions manufacturer, TDSi, will also be showcasing its range of products and services including the latest version of its highly popular integrated software, EXgarde 4.1. Appearing in Hall 4, Stand 4/G20, TDSi will be demonstrating the new features of EXgarde 4.1, including full integration with TDSi’s VUgarde2 IPCCTV software – which is able to display live feeds from any camera, event tagging for video playback, searchable recordings by date and time and video verification, alerting the operator to an event with pop-up live video. EXgarde 4.1 also features full integration with Texecom’s Premier and Premier Elite range of intruder alarms, Microsoft’s Active Directory, and Milestone’s video management software solutions.

TDSi will also be showcasing the specific features of the VUgarde2 Video Management System (VMS), which offers highly a flexible approach to CCTV and video management and accepts a myriad of different camera feeds and formats (such as MJPEG, MPEG4 and H.264 as well as HD & megapixel video streams from IP cameras, encoders and video capture boards). VUgarde2 has a number of built-in wizards to reduce installation and commissioning times and is available in two editions (Express and Pro) to suit project requirements. VUgarde2 also features a built-in simplified user management system that provides user authentication, multi-level auditing and group based permissions to limit access to permitted personnel.

Fellow BSIA member, Bold Communications, will be showcasing the latest version of the Gemini monitoring platform will on the company’s stand E15 in Hall 4. Gemini delivers the total control room management solution, handling alarms, events, CCTV, lone worker and other security systems in one, simple to use common interface. The latest product release includes support for several additional CCTV systems, the innovative Bold Audio Gateway for management of incoming and outgoing voice traffic and enhanced Gemini Web deployment.

Gemini provides a holistic and strategic security solution, particularly where there is both a mix of legacy products and new technology across multiple, dispersed sites. Whether product integration is implemented at the site level or within the management application, Gemini applies filtering, prioritisation and intelligence for a rapid and measured response. The MultiView feature provides the operator with an overview of all monitored systems and handling processes which can be tailored to each individual site or globalised for consistency and ease of data input. Together with support for industry standard intruder and fire panels, and signalling formats, Gemini also offers high quality interfaces for Adpro FastTrace, Dedicated Micros, Heitel and many other CCTV monitoring systems.

UTC Fire and Security will also be launching and demonstrating a host of important products in intruder, CCTV, integration and fire during IFSEC. The new products will include a combined camera-PIR unit with superior features that will make visual verification intruder systems much easier to design and install.

For critical risk applications such as data centres and storage facilities, a new line of advanced aspirated air detection devices will provide the earliest possible warning of potential fires. A complete suite of perimeter detection products is also being showcased, ranging from acoustic cable technology to active IR beam devices.

In the CCTV arena, an upgraded video management system is being released, further enhancing the capability of the TruVision range. And a powerful open platform software video recording system will provide new functionality previously unavailable from TruVision.

Finally, a particularly important launch in the fire market will be UTC’s new 868MHz wireless products, moving Ziton to the forefront again as they will be a leading manufacturer offering end-to-end wireless solutions.

Securitas will be exhibiting the latest in smart technology for personal safety in the IFSEC 2013 Lone Worker Pavilion on the StaySafe stand, Hall 5, stand K45.
This will feature StaySafe™ Business which is monitored by the Securitas alarm receiving centre (ARC) and supplemented by a Mobile Response Service.

StaySafe™ Business, a contender for the IFSEC 2013 Lone Worker Solution of the Year Award, provides smart technology personal safety. It is designed for companies wishing to protect and help their lone workers in accident or danger situations.
This is achieved through an office based Hub and “cloud”. A defined number of workers with smartphones can be monitored in real time, by precise location, by their company colleagues and by the Securitas ARC.

Users are linked to the Hub by way of the StaySafe™ app on their smartphones. This applies across multiple operating platforms such as iphone, Android and Blackberry and a wide range of smartphone models.

Tracking sessions are initiated easily by workers on their smartphones when they are working alone. If there is a problem, the Hub is notified, via the StaySafe app, by a number of different alerts of varying potential severity. The office Hub monitor or A.R.C. can then take appropriate action such as alerting a nearby colleague to go and help (their location is also shown on the Hub), alert police and other emergency services as appropriate. StaySafe notifies session started, session ended, session extended, panic, duress, non-movement and low battery to cover all lone worker situations. This is through the Hub and also by e-mail and SMS.

As in previous years, visitors to IFSEC 2013 will have the opportunity to attend a wide range of educational sessions taking place throughout the four days of the show in the Tavcom Training Theatre. Finally, personnel representing the BSIA’s Training Providers Section member, Tavcom, are unlikely to have much time for rest during the four days of IFSEC 2013. As well as helping visitors to the exhibition with enquiries about its traditional classroom-based training courses, Tavcom will also be officially launching its web based Academy, and a new Technical Services division, as well as organising – on behalf of IFSEC – the Tavcom Training Theatre.

Visitors to Stand E114, Hall 5 will be among the first to see what the Tavcom Academy has to offer sales and technical professionals who are looking progress their career within the electronic security industry.

Although best known for its award winning BTEC certificated training courses, Tavcom is now also able to offer top quality tuition for anyone with a connection to the Internet following the recent development of an extensive range of fully interactive ‘long-distance’ e-learning courses. The Academy, a web based subscription service, offers members a wide range of benefits, not the least of which are substantial discounts on all Tavcom e-learning courses. Subscribers also have access to Continued Professional Development (CPD) learning materials, technical tips, changes to standards and receive regular bulletins of emerging technologies and products.

“There has never been anything like this previously available within the security industry and Tavcom is proud to take the lead in responding to the growing global demand for this revolutionary method of providing training and industry related information,” said Paul Tennent, a Director of Tavcom and Chairman of the BSIA’s Training Providers Section. “Our Academy will help subscribers achieve the maximum benefit from our e-learning courses which are aimed at people who, for a variety of reasons, are not able to attend our traditional classroom based courses, but need to refresh or add to their current levels of technical knowledge.”

As in previous years, visitors to IFSEC 2013 will have the opportunity to attend a wide range of educational sessions taking place throughout the four days of the show in the Tavcom Training Theatre. Tavcom can be found on Stand E114, Hall 5.

Representing over 70% of the UK’s private security industry, including manpower-based services as well as electronic security manufacturers and installers, the BSIA will once again be on hand to educate the marketplace on the importance of choosing a quality supplier, with many representatives from the Association, as well as from member companies, taking part in the event’s busy conference programme.
