Why choose between simple operation and reliable, responsive access control? SMARTair™ brings both to a Geneva residential care home

Round-the-clock resident care is an essential part of a retirement home’s remit. It demands an access control system which responds in an instant to resident needs or unexpected incidents. At Les Résidences Notre-Dame in Geneva, SMARTair™ wireless electronic access control from ASSA ABLOY delivers just that.

SMARTair™ addresses all the needs of both Notre-Dame management and its residents. Because SMARTair™ supports complex, individually tailored authorizations, every site user has access only to the appropriate areas. Varied user profiles including staff, residents and visiting families are all easily accommodated. So, while trained medical staff can enter all rooms, as well as areas where medical supplies are kept, for example, a resident’s credential will only open the door to their own room and the home’s common areas.

Access rights can be programmed, amended or deleted remotely and immediately — a function that’s particularly helpful when keycards or other SMARTair™ credentials like fobs and wristbands are lost. Instant reprogramming also enables care staff to address resident needs and to resolve incidents right away.

Notre-Dame staff and residents also appreciated the ease with which SMARTair™ wireless technology is installed. Residents experienced minimal disruption to their daily routines. No special wiring is required, as new SMARTair™ escutcheons were mounted directly onto the existing mechanical locks.

As well as the wireless locks, the system comes with wireless communications hubs and user-friendly SMARTair™ software to set up and run the access control system wirelessly. SMARTair™ wireless cylinders, wall entry keypads, PINpad-equipped escutcheons, cabinet locks, energy saving devices, and safes are also available.

And because SMARTair™ puts ease of operation at the heart of its design, even vulnerable and non-technical users at Notre-Dame can work the new access control system without any difficulty.

There is no access control trade-off between simplicity and security. With SMARTair™ wireless locks, residential care homes can have both.
