Chubb protects iconic Westminster Abbey
Chubb Fire & Security Ltd has installed an access control and entry phone system at Westminster Abbey’s Song School, the iconic London church that has held numerous royal weddings and state ceremonies. Chubb fire and security systems have helped to ensure security throughout the location for more than 30 years. Westminster Abbey is one of the world’s greatest churches, with a history stretching back over a thousand years. The Song School, set in the heart of the Abbey precincts, exists solely to educate and care for the approximately 30 boys who sing as choristers in the Abbey Choir.
Chubb has equipped the school with an access control and door entry system to ensure that only authorised individuals are able to enter. This is integral to the facility’s existing intruder system, which Chubb monitors 24/7.
Garry Evanson, head of security and emergency planning, Westminster Abbey, said that the trust established with Chubb over three decades is essential.

The purpose-built Song School, set in the heart of the Abbey, offers a bespoke rehearsal facility with various practice rooms as well as offices and music library for choristers and staff to use, arranged around the boys’ various singing commitments. The state-of-the-art facility assists greatly in offering a unique musical educational experience.
