Discover the secret of COP Security’s success

The recent launch of the Nexus range is the latest feather in COP Security’s cap, topping off a very successful year for the company. We’ve been chatting to Gareth Rhodes at COP Security to learn more about Nexus and get the inside scoop on what is driving the company’s achievements.

The IP Nexus range has been launched to support the existing, popular range of analogue and HD-SDI CCTV lines, and COP believes this will reinforce its position as one of the UK and Europe’s leading CCTV distributors. With many other CCTV solutions providers having made the leap to IP long ago, we asked Rhodes whether COP was behind the curve.

“Not at all,” he said. “We took the necessary time to get it all right, and to get the right manufacturer on board. In fact, we sell to many installers who haven’t made the jump to IP, and sales of our analogue solutions are actually going up as a result of competitors ceasing to supply analogue products. That’s one of the reasons we have no intention of abandoning analogue, we’re simply expanding our range to include IP so that our customers benefit from a wider choice.”

Designed to be fully ONVIF compliant, COP’s new line offers power over Ethernet (PoE), up to three megapixel digital imaging and a selection of cameras that allow for dual streaming and wide dynamic range (WDR). Alongside a range of static IP cameras, COP also plans to introduce two high-specification Nexus IP IR PTZ domes, and it will be releasing seven Nexus NVRs, all utilising WD Purple hard drives.

“We have been working with WD for over three years now,” Rhodes said, “and we have built a reliable brand partnership. The WD Purple hard drives have many good features, the key being the fact that they run cold. Heat damages hardware, so the Purple drives increase the life expectancy of our products.”

Being in a position to launch such a comprehensive new range is the culmination of a 12-month period where COP has seen significant growth – growth in revenue, growth in capabilities, and growth in recognition.

So how are they doing it?

“First and foremost, industries such as construction are beginning to recover from the economic crisis,” explained Rhodes. “This obviously drives need for security and CCTV solutions. In addition, we’ve been investing in people and facilities, as well as building on our rebrand – three years ago now – with investments in advertising and self-promotion to spread the word about COP’s services and support. But at the core, everything comes from good products and strong client relationships.”

Rhodes knows that the key to maintaining this trend is to simply carry on doing what they are doing.

He said, “We’re currently investing in new field staff to get the word out about the new Nexus range, and we’re building up a dedicated IP warehouse. We understand the importance of re-investing our profits in the business to make sure we can continue to succeed.”

COP Security will also be undertaking a UK roadshow in the near future, to take its message directly to new and existing customers. Keep an eye on SecurityNewsDesk.com for updates on this in the coming weeks!
