We have been chatting to Brian Song, Managing Director, IDIS Europe, ahead of Intersec 2015 to find out why Intersec is such an important show in the global security industry.
Why are you back at Intersec for 2015?
We debuted DirectIP™ last year at Intersec and led the market in terms of innovation with a simple, high performance and cost effective total full-HD surveillance solution. The show proved a great launch pad for new technology as it brings the whole security buying chain under one roof together with many of our media partners. The response was fantastic. The Middle East market is incredibly tech-savvy, always looking toward next generation technology, so it’s a strategic market for IDIS. In addition, we were able to connect with many existing and new customers at Intersec 2014 and that’s exactly what we’ll be doing this year, while introducing some exciting new innovations.
Why do you think Intersec is so important within the global security industry?
Intersec really is a global show and it’s regarded as one of our top exhibitions in the IDIS global events calendar. Last year we met with attendees from across MENA, as well as Europe, so it offers a great opportunity to meet with a geographic spread of prospective customers and partners. Many of our technology partners, including some of the world’s largest security companies, all exhibit at Intersec so it also presents a great forum to network and conduct business. In 2014, Intersec helped us win new customers and build some strategic business relationships, which have all gone from strength to strength in the last 12 months so it makes sense that we’re back along with our industry peers in 2015.
How is IDIS finding the market in the Middle East and why is the region so important?
It’s an exciting and strategic market with continued security challenges combined with a legacy installed based, significant infrastructure investment and a tech-savvy buying chain. These market dynamics make the region a perfect fit for DirectIP™ next generation surveillance, in that customers are looking for high performance, scalability, quality and reliability along with cost effectiveness and a low cost of ownership. In addition, many larger organisations in the region are increasingly looking toward complete integrated security solutions and in the last year we’ve announced successful integrations with some of the world’s leading access control and security management platform vendors including Lenel, Maxxess and Immix with more to come in the following months.
What are you exhibiting this year?
We’ll be showcasing the ultimate surveillance experience and we’re encouraging Intersec visitors to come and take part in that on our stand #S1-B20. We want to lead the surveillance market again this year with our 4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD) technologies that include the latest 8MP IP cameras and UHD surveillance-grade monitors. This expanded DirectIP™ range includes H.265 compliant cameras and video management software (VMS), which builds on our promise of industry-leading performance and affordability.
We will also highlight the most sophisticated DirectIP™ industry solutions to date. We’ve responded to the challenges from a range of industry sectors and so Intersec visitors will see bespoke DirectIP™ surveillance solutions for transport, retail and the corporate enterprise markets. We’ll be presenting these across dynamic and interactive zones that will introduce an array of integrated solutions including Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), facial recognition and integration with some of the biggest brands in access control.
Why are IDIS’ products so unique?
As the proliferation of IP and HD systems grew, we listened to installers and end-users frustrations regarding installation challenges together with an overly fragmented and unnecessarily complex surveillance marketplace. Noting not only these complexities, but the associated compatibility issues and loss of functionality across various products and individual devices, we developed DirectIP: the industry’s first true ‘one-stop-shop’ HD surveillance solution from a single source provider.
We packaged DirectIP as a complete end-to-end solution, comprising a range of cameras, monitors, network video recorders (NVR) and video management software bundled at no extra cost. The result is benefits across the entire security buying chain.
Plug-and-play simplicity means easy and fast installation for installers and integrators making them more competitive, while offering their end-user customers a high-performance IP and HD surveillance solution. Distributors can now present a complete surveillance solution including all network accessories taking complexity out of their supply chain. For end-users, DirectIP delivers full-HD and 4k performance to strengthen security and increase the detection of suspicious behavior to prevent losses, while our industry-leading quality and reliability together with low power consumption ensures a low cost of ownership. A user-friendly interface, fast retrieval of video footage and virtual guard tours also drives operator and manned guarding efficiencies. So DirectIP really does benefit the entire security buying chain and the incredible response since our launch at Intersec last year is testament to this.
What are you most looking forward to at the 2015 event?
Meeting with existing and prospective customers is always going to be a priority for any exhibitor as well as maximising networking opportunities. We’re all excited again to be launching some new technologies and integrations. Intersec is a great environment in which to do business and it also presents an opportunity for our international teams from headquarters in Korea and our offices in Dubai, the UK and the US to work together on the IDIS stand. IDIS is very much a young, vibrant and technology-led company, which also fits with the atmosphere in Dubai, so we also like to make sure we have some fun!
What are your key goals for 2015?
You’ll definitely be seeing more of the same. We will continue to lead innovation in the surveillance market with our continued focus on DirectIP product development and further integration with other technologies to enable complete security management solutions. We will also continue to strengthen our industry solutions to address the unique security challenges of our strategic vertical markets and this will be evident on the IDIS stand at Intersec.
There is still some education to be done within the industry around the benefits of upgrading to networked and full-HD surveillance as more and more legacy equipment comes to the end of its lifecycle. You can also expect more announcements of our continued investment in the business both globally and in the Middle East as well as further partnership announcements and customer case studies as more projects go live. So 2015 is already shaping up to be another exciting year for sure!
