Genetec Announces Strategic Partnership with SALTO

SALTO SALLIS Wireless Technology to be Integrated with the Genetec Synergis IP-based Access Control Solution

MONTREAL,  April 30, 2014 Genetec™, a leading provider of unified IP security solutions, today announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with SALTO, a leading developer of wireless locking solutions, as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to delivering an open approach to access control.

Through this partnership, Genetec and SALTO will offer a streamlined integration between Genetec Synergis, the IP access control solution, and the Salto SALLIS wireless technology. Synergis will allow end users to consolidate their new or existing wired and wireless access control systems into one, and centralize monitoring and reporting. Customers will also be able to manage a single cardholder and credential database without having to work with separate wireless system or duplicate credentials. These and other benefits will enable users to optimize their operations and reduce their expenditures for years to come.

The Genetec and SALTO partnership will help users to easily bridge the gap between IP access control and wireless locking solutions, expand the reach of existing access control systems, and reduce the installation costs typically associated with wired solutions for doors where wireless technology makes more sense.

“Both Genetec and Salto serve customers around the world and we look forward to delivering joint solutions that will respond to both local needs as well as those of multi-site and multi-national installations looking for wireless options,” says Jimmy Palatsoukas, Senior Manager of Product Marketing at Genetec.  “As we continue to expand our portfolio of supported access control partners, we are very excited about giving our customers access to SALTO’s SALLIS wireless technology and locks.”

“We are pleased to be partnering with a leading developer of IP-based access control solutions.  Genetec and SALTO share a culture of innovation and our combined solution will offer unprecedented level of power, flexibility and affordability,” commented Jennifer Stack, Vice President Marketing SALTO Systems.

The Salto electronic locks will communicate wirelessly with SALLIS routers, which in turn are integrated with Synergis through the Genetec Synergis Master Controller (SMC). The SMC is unique in that it is an intelligent and universal device that manages a growing portfolio of wired and wireless access control devices from leading hardware vendors. The SMC will be able to support both RS-485 and IP-based Salto routers, offering customers alternative installation scenarios.

When Synergis and SALTO SALLIS locks are deployed alongside Genetec video surveillance products, it will also be possible for users to view Salto wireless lock events and alarms seamlessly linked with live or recorded video.  This gives security professionals a more complete view of their wireless installation than what is seen today with traditional access control products.

The integration with Salto SALLIS is expected to be completed by the end of fiscal Q2 2014 and will be showcased for the first time at IFSEC International 2014 in London on Genetec booth # F1210.
