You can now reboot a Router, DVR, Wireless Video Link – or any other mains powered electrical device – anytime from anywhere as long as you have 2G-network coverage. The new GSM Intelligent Power Socket from Genie has a built-in card slot that accepts PAYG or contract SIM cards**. Simple SMS text commands are used to remotely control the GSM Socket, enabling power to the attached hardware device be switched On and Off.
Binit Shah, Genie’s EMEA Sales & Marketing Manager says “The Genie GSM Intelligent Power Socket informs you in seconds – via SMS messaging-when mains power is lost, giving the earliest possible warning of power issues at remote locations. It’s ideal for quickly and easily remotely rebooting IP/IT equipment, refrigeration equipment and digital video recorders”.
The unit’s in-built temperature monitor can be programmed to warn you via SMS messaging; air conditioning failures or other issues related to increases or decreases in the ambient temperature.
A European (Schuko) version of the intelligent power socket is also available. Please note that at present this device is not suitable for use on 3G Networks.
