Gallagher launches security service with Wilson Security

Security technology leader, Gallagher, and leading Australian security company, Wilson Security, have together launched a Guarding service within Gallagher’s cloud-based security solution. The cloud-based solution offers customers complete control of their security through their smartphone, via an app. In the event of an alarm, customers receive a notification, enabling them to investigate further, silence the alarm, or – through the seamless integration with Wilson Security – request a security guard to check on the site. Lisa Tubb, Senior Product Manager for Gallagher, says: “The level of communication between the customer and guard is unmatched in the market. With this feature already successfully operating in New Zealand, we’ve seen customers save both time and money as they’re no longer dealing with a middleman or paying for false callouts. “We’re very excited to collaborate with Wilson Security to extend this service to our customers across Australia. Adding Guarding to the product gives our installer network an additional layer of security.” Gallagher and Wilson Security have been working closely since the announcement of a national Channel partnership earlier this year. Nick Frangoulis, CEO Wilson Security, says “The partnership with Gallagher is enabling us to deliver leading integrated security solutions to an even larger customer base. “Our Wilson Protect Plus package incorporating Gallagher’s cloud-based solution is next generation security, aligned with how people work in today’s world.” With the Guarding service enabled, customers can request a guard directly from the app or enable automated guarding where the system will automatically request a guard in an alarm incident. Customers will receive regular update notifications indicating the guard has arrived on site and departed, followed by updates on their actions on site and a final report. terrain

Challenging terrain and geography

How can combining traditional perimeter solutions and new emerging technologies battle against challenging terrain and vast geographical expanse on borders?  Border threats are rich and varied and despite featuring heavily in the press over recent years, illegal immigration counts as a small percentage of the risks faced. It’s not a case of simply keeping people out; animals can carry diseases, organised criminals look for vulnerabilities, constant threats to national security take place many thousands of times each day.   Borders cover many tens of thousands of kilometres across the globe and that requires special, reliable measures to ensure a secure perimeter allowing everyday life to continue, without threats on both sides of the line.  Every nation puts a lot of time and capital into ensuring borders are kept secure and safe but the task of monitoring many thousands of kilometres is nearly impossible, regardless of how determined a nation is to keep border entry strict.  Security threats to borders include and are not limited to the below:   Smuggling  Unauthorised access  Illegal contraband  Criminal network access  Potential terrorist threats  National security threats  Intent damage to property or infrastructure  Illegal immigration  Organised criminal activity  Non-indigenous plants & animals  Dangerous chemicals & drug importation  Trespassing  Basic security for borders can include a multitude of layers and spans over a vast geographical terrain. Border control does not stop at checkpoints or fencing/perimeter, but spans across video surveillance, watch towers, access control, patrolling and much more. This article will only touch on a couple of the primary, new and most common uses of security solutions in border control across the globe.  Perimeter fencing  Barbed wire  Long range CCTV  Alarms & sirens  Spotlights and floodlights  Flashing beacons  Guard towers  Below ground intrusion detection  Checkpoints  Patrol guards and dogs  Various vehicular deterrents  Drones  Satellite surveillance  Perimeter protection  Border security is only as effective as its active perimeter. Regardless of the systems in place, if a fence can be cut, a wall can be scaled or a tunnel can be dug undetected then the threat level to national security remains high.   Border control perimeter fencing technologies are typically developed for military applications which do not fail, cannot be powered down, worked around or avoided. These systems are completely waterproof, weatherproof and designed to work in some of the world’s harshest environments. They seamlessly integrate with your existing security measures and provide a humanitarian means to monitor borders, regardless of their length.   Typically, borders will be spanned by lengths of fencing, often palisade, wire or barbed wire. These can be retained and monitored using perimeter intrusion detection systems. With solutions for every fence type, it is easy to monitor many kilometres of border and pinpoint attempts made to damage the fence, scale it or break through. This can be connected to all existing security measures along the perimeter and enable a rapid response to any alert created.     To read more exclusive features and latest news please see our March issue here. Helixeon

Helixeon entrusts VIVOTEK security solutions

On the campuses of educational facilities and houses of worship, extensive security measures have unfortunately become a necessity. As such, James River Church was looking to upgrade their security solution. The church’s past security camera system was utilising multiple PTZ cameras, which were failing to capture entire areas of the property, which allows for criminal action. Because of these gaps in coverage, James River Church now needed to integrate camera coverage both indoors and out, in low-light and hard to see areas of the campus. Challenges in the project were related to not only being able to see all areas of the campus, but also in having the ability to count empty seats in the indoor auditorium, as well as to be able to track individuals when necessary. Helixeon chose VIVOTEK and a total of 34 of its indoor and outdoor security solutions to solve James River Church’s previous security solution issues. In the interior hallways and some rooms, 15 VIVOTEK FD9189-HT-v2 are now utilised because if its great picture and remote focus abilities. The FD9189-v2 series is a H.265 indoor dome network camera equipped with a 5-Megapixel sensor, enabling resolution of 2560×1920 at 30 fps. Featuring VIVOTEK SNV and WDR Pro technology, the FD9189-v2 series is capable of capturing high-quality imagery in both high-contrast and low-light environments. It offers two lens options for different user scenarios: fixed-focal and remote focus lenses. The camera is equipped with IR illuminators with a 30-meter effective range for better night visibility. Ten MS9390-HV dual 4-megapixel wide-angle lens design cameras have been integrated for both indoor and outdoor use along main travel areas. Unlike most traditional multi-sensor panoramic cameras which rely on four sensors, the MS9390-HV multi-sensor dome camera is also equipped with SNV (Supreme Night Visibility), WDR Pro technology, 180 degree IR illuminators effective up to 20 meters, and delivers full resolution imagery at 30 fps (frames per second), making it the ideal camera to provide excellent panoramic image quality for both day and night surveillance indoors or out. Additionally, with its unique dual-sensor design, the MS9390-HV is equipped with a video alignment feature, providing users both a detailed and yet seamless 180-degree panoramic view and a higher vertical field of view. This enables greater coverage not only on the horizontal, but also on the vertical plane, capturing an even greater field of view below the point of camera installation. To further help secure the outside of the campus, five FD9389-v2 series H.265 dome network cameras equipped with a 5-Megapixel sensor enabling resolution of 2560 x1920 at 30 fps, are now being used. Featuring VIVOTEK SNV and WDR Pro technology, the FD9389-v2 series is capable of capturing high-quality imagery in both high contrast and low light environments.
