GJD goes karting to raise money for Down Syndrome Extra 21

It is an annual tradition for ‘Team GJD’ to battle it out over a 1200m karting circuit for six hours, to help raise money for Down Syndrome Extra 21 charity (DSE21). This race is the main fund raising event of the year for DSE21 and is held at Buckmore Park, Kent on Saturday 2nd May 2015.

As in previous years, GJD is paying the entrance fee of £420 per team and hope to raise a further £400 in sponsorship for DSE21, which is completely managed by volunteers consisting of parents, carers and people with Down Syndrome. The charity receives no formal funding or grants. Therefore, relies on money donated or raised through events to sustain the charity.

Money raised for the charity is used to help people with Down Syndrome to live full and rewarding lives. The main objectives of the charity are to promote equal opportunities for people with Down syndrome and offer support to them and their families. To promote public awareness of Down’s Syndrome and to encourage local support groups.

Greg Stuttle, Business Development Manager at GJD and one of the drivers taking part commented: “It is a great day that combines both fundraising for a worthy charity and is also a fantastic team building event. In previous years the event has raised over £10,000 for DSE21 and it is very satisfying to play a part in contributing towards the final total”.

So far GJD has raised £235. To support DSE21 you can donate through JustGiving, which is simple, fast and totally secure. https://www.justgiving.com/TeamGJD/

You can find information about DSE21 through conferences, workshops, newsletters and www.extra21.org.uk.

Many thanks for supporting Down Syndrome Extra 21 and Team GJD.
