IFSEC launch for X-SERIES Dual Light camera

Redvision X SERIES Dual Light

Redvision has announced plans to showcase the X-SERIES Dual Light rugged dome/ball PTZ camera at IFSEC 2013 at Birmingham’s NEC in May.

Super-efficient LEDs are used in the Dual Light’s IR and white light modules, both of which have an illumination range of 100m. The Dual Light toggles automatically, or manually, between IR and white light modes to suit ambient lighting conditions. Pre-defined lighting profiles can be assigned to each of the Dual Light’s 100 preset positions, adjusting lighting strength and type to produce optimal images in each of its night-time, day-time or weekend modes.

“Our tests show that the white light enables full facial recognition from as far away as 40m at night and the IR mode allows operation in total darkness,” said Paul Hucker, Managing Director of UK-based CCTV manufacturer, Redvision. “IR or white light can be used to produce images in any camera view. IR lighting is covert whilst white light is overt. This means operators can use the white lights to produce usable video images at night and also to act as a deterrent or warning to intruders.”

“The Dual Light is designed for safe operation. Its ‘dark-zone’ feature, where white light LEDs are suppressed in pre-defined zones, prevents nuisance or hazardous operation. This feature might be used to avoid dazzling drivers in public space applications when viewing a road by switching instead to IR light. The white light could still illuminate would-be intruders if required.”

The LED lighting modules only draw 48W altogether, similar to a small light bulb and around 5% of the energy consumption of a flood light or a white light PTZ solution. The X-SERIES™ domes’ LEDs last around 6 years, as opposed to the traditional PTZ lamps with a MTBF of 3 months. This reduces site visit frequency, running costs and total cost of ownership.
