Biometric security systems increasingly under focus at Intersec

With corporates and governments around the Middle East paying increasing attention to safety and security in the workplace and social environments, biometric technology, access control systems and fingerprint recognition software are expected to attract considerable interest at the upcoming Intersec 2012.

Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organiser of the Middle East’s foremost business and networking event for the safety, health and security industries, reported intense interest from prospective trade visitors and industry representatives in biometric security systems, access control and fingerprint recognition systems.

“Biometric security systems are in great demand globally,” said Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “We expect this demand will be reflected in the Middle East too through events such as Intersec, which bring together the security community from around the region,” he added.

Biometric technology is at the heart of access control and security systems worldwide, being in widespread use at airports, border control posts, immigration, customs and security stations. Facial and fingerprint recognition is also governing access to computer terminals and servers at offices and workplaces as corporates get increasingly security conscious. In fact, recent figures from Wintergreen Research indicate that the global market for biometric security equipment i.e. biometric government identification program, law enforcement, and commercial fingerprint equipment, is expected to be worth US$6 billion by 2012*.

Due to increased interest in products and services related to commercial security, homeland security & policing and aviation security, the section is expected to grow exponentially for Intersec 2012. Exhibiting their range of biometric and access control systems are a range of companies including, but not limited to, Apollo Security Sales Inc, Biostream General Trading LLC, Boom Edam Ltd, Cardz Middle East Trading LLC, DataCard, IPTec General Trading, Nedap FZE, Prologix LLC, Suprema and Tyco Security Systems.

Intersec combines a strong international profile with a huge regional impact. The upcoming event in January will once again feature the latest in security systems, surveillance and policing technology, advances in crowd control and monitoring systems and the latest in health and safety developments.
