The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) has announced it is now able to carry out testing to the EN 1627 regulation after achieving UKAS accreditation.
LPCB is a part of BRE Global Limited and has worked with government and the industry for over a century to offer certification across fire, security and sustainability products.
Under the new capabilities, LPCB has become among the first to be accredited by UKAS to test to the standard EN 167: Pedestrian, doorsets, windows, curtain walling, grilles and shutters – Burglar resistance.
The European Standard covers the burglar resistant characteristics of doors, windows and shutters to attack from brute force or manipulation. It does not cover resistance of locks to picking tool attack or technical attacks of electric-operated burglar products.
LPCB, already recognised by the UK Police initiative Secured By Design for the approval of security products, lists approved fire safety and security products in its annual LPCB Red Book. The lists are also constantly updated online with the latest approved information.
