Middle East ‘most important market’, say BSIA members ahead of Intersec 2017

Members of the BSIA Export Council – a dedicated forum for BSIA member companies who are focused on extending their business to overseas markets – have said in a survey that Middle East is one of their most important market, and are are looking forward to exhibiting their wares at this year’s Intersec trade show in Dubai.

The 19th edition of Intersec Dubai will take place over the 22nd to 24th January at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition centre. This show is expected to be the largest to date, with more than 1,300 exhibitors and an expected increase on the 31,261 visitors from 128 countries that attended in 2016.

The show is always well attended by UK exhibitors – in 2016, the UK Pavilion (pictured below) was the largest national pavilion at the show – and is seen by BSIA members as an important platform to engage with existing and prospective customers in the region. The Middle East is a region that many BSIA members are already active in according to the results of the BSIA’s 2016 Export State of the Nation survey.

Middle East ‘most important market’, say BSIA members ahead of IntersecThe survey is conducted annually amongst BSIA Export Council members to identify global export trends and the results of this year’s survey have once again underlined the importance of the Middle East to BSIA member companies.

According to the survey results, 69 per cent of BSIA Export Council members are already active in the Middle East, whilst 77 per cent reported that they are looking to increase business in the region over the coming 12 months. In fact, as was the case in 2015, the Middle East has remained as the single most important market for BSIA members according to 54 per cent of respondents, with the next highest ranking region being Western Europe (23 per cent).

These statistics perhaps indicate why Intersec Dubai is a key trade show for BSIA members year on year. According to the survey, in 2016, 77 per cent of respondents exhibited at the show.

BSIA member company, TDSi – a regular exhibitor at Intersec – will once again be returning to the show floor for 2017’s exhibition. TDSi BSIA’s Export Council Managing Director and Chairman, John Davies commented:

“TDSi is excited to be taking part in Intersec 2017 as the Middle East is a key export market for us. The show offers the chance for customers and partners to see the latest products and services that are on offer and draws exhibitors and visitors from a wide area. Equally, the event offers the team the opportunity to talk directly to the people who buy and sell the products across the region and beyond. This gives a better understanding of the demands and needs from this important security market.”

The BSIA has once again organised the UK Pavilion at Intersec and has assisted a wide variety of UK security companies to exhibit at this year’s show.
