One-day courses to cover the basics of networking, an introduction to surveillance and the basics of IP surveillance.
Following positive feedback received from its networking course in July, Midwich Security has developed a further series of one-day courses designed to help resellers and installers enter the security market or further expand their business offering.
Each theory-based course will be suitable for both technical and non-technical resellers wishing to developing their knowledge of IP surveillance and networking within the security market. There will be a range of equipment available at the venue which can be demonstrated at the end of each course.

Basics of networking: Wednesday 22nd August – 10:00AM – 2:00PM
This course is suitable for all network-based services including IP video surveillance, AV, print, Pro-audio and access control and is designed to give a general understanding of the terms used within the networking environment. No previous knowledge of networking is required for the course meaning it is suitable for both technical and non-technical members of the team and for anyone who speaks to customers on IP elements as part of the sales process.

Starting with details on how and why CCTV is used, the course moves onto the hardware aspects from camera technology through to transmission options, recording requirements and an overview of legal considerations. The course is aimed at those who are new to CCTV or have only basic knowledge and wish to be able to talk to their customers about how CCTV can help them. A background in AV, photography or networking is beneficial but not a requirement.

Starting with details on the benefits of IP video surveillance, the course moves onto the differences to be considered when designing an IP video surveillance system over a traditional CCTV system. Aimed at those who are interested in obtaining a greater understanding of networks and how they operate, the course emphasises the use of video products over network infrastructure and highlights the main considerations required for system design engineers, as well as sales people requiring more IP knowledge to enable then to sell IP solutions.
