Milestone Systems’ President claims the company’s open platform to allow customisation and system integration has re-defined the surveillance industry since its inception.
Lars Thinggaard, President and CEO of Milestone Systems, spoke at the firm’s biggest-ever annual Milestone Integration Platform Symposium at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, earlier this month.
Some 380 partners, including installers, integrators and development experts, and 46 exhibiting companies, attended the two-day event to see new solutions and opportunities across the Milestone range.
Issues such as new distribution, video analytics, access control, hardware, cameras and network infrastructure were discussed as attendees shared knowledge and debated scope for future initiatives.
Thinggaard spoke to the audience gathered at the Cosmopolitan Hotel to talk about the history and successes of Milestone’s open platform – which allows developers to customise their video management software and allows integration for extra features.
“We introduced this into the industry and we have grown an international business ecosystem around it,” he added.
“The effect has been to redefine the industry’s expectations about the way surveillance video is used.
“Our partners in the MIPS Technology Showcase are proof-points of this with some of the latest technical innovations enabled by our open platform.”
Milestone also told attendees about the forthcoming release for the latest versions of its XProtect VMS product line.
Details regarding the new Milestone XProtect 2013 portfolio include the new XProtect Expert, designed for use in medium and large-scale installations, and Milestone Interconnect – a new package for effective centralisation of surveillance across dispersed sites
The company is planning to showcase its new concepts at April’s ISC West show in Las Vegas, with the entire XProtect 2013 portfolio also set to be shown at IFSEC in Birmingham in May. Further details regarding the new products are due over the coming months.
