More SOTER RS Body Scanners for Detention Centres in Netherlands

OD Security announce more body scanners for detention centres in Netherlands to address human rights concerns over the use of strip searches in detention centres.

Netherlands based security manufacturer, OD Security announced today that a further two SOTER RS Through-Body Scanners have been sold to the Ministry of Justice, for installation at detention centres for illegal immigrants in the Netherlands.

This delivery means that now all three Dutch Immigrant Detention Centres; Rotterdam, Zeist and Schiphol will have the body scanners to check both visitors and staff for contraband in an effort to reduce items like drugs, tobacco, weapons and cell phones from being smuggled into them.

The scanners have been purchased to address the concerns of Amnesty International and other human rights groups about the use of strip searches in detention centres.  Now, for the first time, visitors, detainees and staff will be offered the choice of a body search or a scan using the SOTER RS Through-Body Scanner.

The SOTER RS is a low dosage full body scanner which combines ultra low radiation with maximum visibility, for use at airports and prisons. Within seconds the SOTER RS reveals hidden items, such as weapons or narcotics, diamonds, or any stolen or smuggled goods. It doesn’t even have to be metal. The SOTER shows a clear difference between human tissue and other materials. Even ingested or camouflaged items will be shown.

SOTER RS is successfully deployed in prisons, in airports, detention centres, police and customs facilities worldwide including; Australia, Denmark, Ghana, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, The Netherlands, The United Arab Emirates, The United States of America, The United Kingdom, Chile, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
